How was your weekend?
So we were hit Friday evening by what the forecasters call a high level EF2 tornado in Ottawa. Our house escaped all damage, but lost some food with the power outage from 4:20PM Friday until 11:30PM Sunday. This is some pics I took of the aftermath and cleanup. The Tornado touched down in Arlington Woods and travelled East to Merivale Road. I've seen tornado damage on the news, but to see what it can do is stunning. The first 5 shots were about an hour after touch down taken with my cell camera. attachment=2]1278.jpg[/attachment]

It's a great experience, isn't it? Be glad it wasn't a big one. Tornadoes are "normal" where I live and in a few days everything will be cleaned up and people will put it behind them until the next time. As our world's climate gets warmer this may become more common for you. Do they have tornado sirens where you live?
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Glad it missed you. Few days without power sucks but could've been worse.

No, just alerts on TV, and smartphones. They put a couple of Tornado warnings for SW Ontario tonight. That system can be here by early AM tomorrow.

I agree. My wife is hobbling around on a broken ankle from a fall a couple of weeks ago. She saw the carnage firsthand. I was stuck on a city bus in bumper to bumper traffic and missed it.

Now, the updated report has the count at 6 tornadoes (1 EF3, 1 EF2, and 4 EF1's), and 2 downbursts (straight line winds from powerful downdrafts spreading out after hitting the ground):

Aside from the power outage, glad you were spared!

That's a shame. This past weekend wasn't as bad as last weekend
