Looks like it could have been a really good scene had the camera person NOT aimed the lens so high that you can't see her sinking into the pit, except for a couple of brief glimpses. You DO get to see her go under, though the scene cuts away just as she sinks up to her closed eyes.
7 of 10 for a possibly good pit scene, but 1 out of ten for camera work.

The skunk ape, also known as the swamp cabbage man, swamp ape, stink ape, Florida Bigfoot, Louisiana Bigfoot, myakka ape, swampsquatch, and myakka skunk ape, is a humanoid creature said to inhabit the U.S. states of Florida, North Carolina, and Arkansas, although reports from Florida are most common. It is named for its appearance and for the unpleasant odor that is said to accompany it.
Reports of the skunk ape were particularly common in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1974, sightings of a large, foul-smelling, hairy, ape-like creature, which ran upright on two legs were reported in suburban neighborhoods of Dade County, Florida. Skeptical investigator Joe Nickell has written that some of the reports may represent sightings of the black bear (Ursus americanus) and it is likely that other sightings are hoaxes or misidentification of wildlife. The United States National Park Service considers the skunk ape to be a hoax.

Tried finding this on Netflix to no avail...
But in my search I came across this DVD, "Swamp Girl / Swamp Country: Double Feature" . Someone wrote this in a review that the swamp is "quicksand riddled" and another person wrote this ..."No nudity, no gore, just camp value--but I did find an easter egg: on the main menu, go down to "Danger: Quicksand" and press Left on your remote to access a hidden trailer called "The Man From STEEL" which I would have rather watched"
might be worth checking out

Certainly this scene could have been better, IMHO !
Tarzan to Jill Hardy: Girl be still. Not sink!!"
From "Valley Of Mystery" : Don't struggle and do not thrash around; that just makes things worse!

The Skunk Ape really gets a bad rap.
I'm sure if he just took a bath he'd get a lot more dinner invites and speaking engagements at Crypto-conventions.

Re: Swamp ape scene
The bad camera work is intentional since she's not really sinking into anything until it cuts to bad CGI of her submersion. I found this a couple years ago and barely took note of it. We have become very spoiled.

EDIT - As much as I derided this scene it appears that I'm not much smarter. I deleted my original post by accident.
