movie trivia

Postby hawkmaster91 » Wed Oct 31, 2018 11:58 pm

My favorite actor is and has always been John wayne. TO my knowledge there have been only four actors to co star in movies with The duke as both good guys and bad guys. So your challenge if you choose to accept it is name those actors and name oen of each they were in as good guy and bad guy. Some have multiple in each role. Good luck, this quetion will self destruct in five minutes. Not really just got carried away with the mission impossible references

First comes to mind is Richard Boone - then Forrest Tucker...Thinking...Oh yeah - Lee Marvin and...uh...Victor McLaglen. How's that?

Did I mention I was a colossal John Wayne fan too?

Edit - I left out the respective pictures -

Lee Marvin - Good guy in Donovan's Reef - Bad guy in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

Forest Tucker - Good guy in The Sands of Iwo Jima and bad guy in Chisum

Richard Boone - Good guy in The Alamo and really bad guy in The Shootist

Victor McLaglen - Good guy in half of John Wayne's movies and bad guy in The Quiet Man
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

I may be incorrect but I believe the question referred to paired roles in the SAME movie.

Guessing that "Spaceballs" might be one, with Mel Brooks playing the dual roles.

the wording would be my mistake. I meant the actor and hte movie they were a good guy, and the movie they were a bad guy

And credit for forest tucker missed him. I was thinking bruce cabot: good guy in big jake hatari if that counts, the undefeated. Bad guy in chisum and war wagon. Also good guy in green berrets and hell fighters.

Bruce Cabot was an easy one since he followed Wayne around like McLaglen and Ward Bond.

If you want to connect The Duke to our genre here you might answer my trivia question. Easy for real fans -

How many movie did Vera Miles (Tarzan's Hidden Jungle) make with John Wayne?

I'd have given you credit with the big three and the Green Berets is always an interesting bit of trivia. She and John Wayne and John Ford were all good buddies. Interesting bit of trivia that nobody knows and is recorded nowhere - Vera came to Hollywood as Vera Ralston. She had to change her name because there was another Vera Ralston already in Hollywood - Vera Hruba Ralston, VHR lived a prosperous life in Hollywood even though she wasn't a very good actress because she was married to Herbert Yates the head of RKO studios. This also got her appearing with John Wayne in The Fighting Kentuckian. When I was in high school I dated her great niece who left town and briefly lived with VRH while seeking an new life in California.
