Possible story fodder?

Postby Fred588 » Tue Feb 05, 2019 7:34 am

Not sure if this belongs here, in nuggets, or off-topic. It seems more like n information nugget to me to I put it here. This link is to a story that could, perhaps, serve to stimulate story ideas. Its about a newly formed volcanic island with some unknown (so far) kind of mud.

Ok, so there's apparently some attractive ladies in Tonga.

Crowdfunding anyone?

I could do for some flying and a boat ride. 8-)

When I mentioned stories I was thinking of short stories rather than video scenes. In any case, as I see it, if a video were to be made there is no particular reason for it to take place on or near that particular island, or even in that particular ocean. For that matter on this particular planet. The basic idea is that some phenomenon having something to do with a volcanic eruption forming a new island somehow results in formation of some sort of strange mud. [BTW the main article said nothing about the mud being deep.... just sticky.] Maybe this happens on some newly explored planet (Androzani Minor is already documented in Dr. Who as having eruptions of mud]. Or maybe in a newly discovered valley on an isolated island. Or maybe rising sea levels from global warming results in mud springs with mud of unknown composition. Or it is caused by chemicals used in fracking. There is no limit to the possibilities once you let your imagination run wild.

Okay, so they're Hawaiian tourists who surfed up on a distant beach in a storm. It can happen. I saw it on Gilligan's Island once. Next thing you know they're sinking into this beach.

OK, now that we have gotten the hot pics all posted, anyone have ideas for actual stories?

I'm sure to have one or two if I make it there.

Seems pretty straight forward. I just need to decide if I want to take someone, or try my luck with the locals. ;)

Story ideas area as many and varied as people. Just to borrow some titles from the past -

Naked Island - Attractive researchers travel to a barren mud island to find why no trees have taken root and no animals have arrived.
Cast Way Away - A lone quicksand fetishist is marooned on a barren mud island. Is this too much of a good thing?
Robinson Carusoe Gets Lucky - A quicksand fetishist is marooned on a mud island. He saves a grateful native girl from sinking and names her "Friday". What to do?
Very Mysterious Island - A Victorian era suffragette goes exploring for a lost island. She and her all female crew find a barren mud paradise inhabited by the unsunk remains of a lost tribe of Polynesian Amazons.

And so it goes...
