Yes you are correct but we don't need an attorney or even to get legalistic about it. Don't use another parties work as your own. I'm finally catching on to what is happening here. MadMax - Love your work but don't change MPV photos. Backgrounds are one thing but to keep the photo substantially intact and make your changes is beyond copyright. Captions underneath the photo are one thing but please don't alter the original work.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

before i did any of this, i did contact Dave and got permission (the same for other producers); but perhaps it wasn't clear just what i was doing with the images; i will gladly go thru my galleries and take down the two stories i posted earlier, if that's necessary

Let me make certain I'm not talking out of my ass about this. It's probably a lot of misunderstanding. Don't worry about it and if I learn otherwise I'll PM you. Thanks.

Ok, it seems that I need to restate very consistent positions I have held about this current topic for quite some time.

MPV images can be used for backgrounds, providing *all* parts of the original subjects have been removed. No watermark retention is required.

No other alterations are acceptable, including, but not limited to, added text or added images, or the removal of watermarks.

That would look good as a progression

I wish everyday we could’ve gotten more Cali in quicksand
