Anyone do any stretches after sinks? I am finding it helps, thinking the sinks wont get easier but will enjoy as long as its possible. The worse pain I have had was last year trying to pull my leg out of the muck too fast and strained it..ouch

feeling the pain after sinking
I hate using age as an excuse but I am beginning to feel the aches and pains after my sinks. I have always been very athletic in my life, hiking, weights and running. In my 50,s I am feeling the changes uhg...of course I will hear the obvious,it gets worse as we age
especially with arthretic pain.

As a specialist (retired) in exercise-related things, I would STRONGLY urge you NOT to stretch after exercise of this type, especially if you are cold. Muscle tissue that is cold is much more likely to suffer damage if forced to stretch as described.

That would be much safer. Be certain you are not doing what is called a dynamic stretch (using momentum of a moving body part or object to increase the degree of stretch. That kind of stretch is NEVER appropriate.

Did you pull your leg out of the muck too fast for a reason?
I found some really thick and sticky stuff a few days ago. I worked to about knee deep. I then decided to make sure that I could get out. I started working "the other way". No surprise, I was more stuck that I would have thought. I rotated my upper body while lifting my leg. I must have twisted a little to far because I felt a mild spasm in my calf. I relaxed and waited at least 2 minutes before I got back to it. I think it is a matter of patience. Enjoy the stuck.

Re: feeling the pain after sinking
Thanks for the tip Fred..you really know your stuff.Mud dreamer.at the time that I strained myself,I wasn,t an experienced sinker and I remember walking into a bog and one leg completely went into the thick clay and locked me in and had a hiking shoe on. I was relentlessly trying to pull my leg out but grew frusterated with my progress and leaned over and pulled hard and heaved hoed,it did break the suction but I paid for it.
Of course I do things differently now. Have to learn the art of maneuvering and slow movements and learn how to be patient when extricating yourself.

I thought I replied to this about an hour ago but I must have done somethng wrong. Here is mor or less what I said then, in reply to the report of a spasm:
Muscle spasms of this type are usually, and readily, triggered by contracting a muscle when there is no resistance to overcome. They are painful but can generally be stopped by forced stretching of the contracting muscle by an outside force. A doctor faced with a complaint of muscle spasms is likely to assume low potassium as the cause and to suggest eating bananas or some potassium supplements as a remidy. In this case, however, I would suspect lowered muscle temperature as the cause, especially if the person reporting the spasms is otherwise healthy.
My applogies if this is a duplicate post but the original seems to have not gone through.
