so this is really 2 questions... for those who have actually experienced sinking, will they become satiated, or find it too demanding for the payoff... the testimony seems to be it is possible
for those of us who fantasize about it, or watch videos/look at images, it seems unlikely; at this point my fantasy is to be able to come work on a crew and see a video being made, but who knows if that will ever happen?
Does anyone think that they will eventually get bored with QS?

You and I are much alike in our preferences. In the summer of 1998 I followed Dave‘s roll of the dice with one of my own. Actually joining his second shoot changed my life and several others . I will forever be grateful that I did not wait. I suggest that you don’t either.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Us doers time out over the years, if for no other reason than that we just turned ninety. I wouldn't know about the visual-watcher-fantasy folks. Does it ever expire or not? No clue.
I used to be almost totally insensitive to visual input, even though I created the stuff myself. During the high-sinking years, I probably didn't have a lot of energy left over.
But when I quit going out to sink in real muck and mire so ridiculously often...those videos started working a whole lot better than they used to.

P.S. I hope you get your wish someday.

Re: Does anyone think that they will eventually get bored with QS?
Getting back to mud_dreamer's original post, one way to view one's mud fetish interests is by the strength of your obsession in pursuing those interests. Age can certainly be a factor but so can experience. Reading between the lines here, I'm thinking perhaps that though your interest in mud goes back to adolescence, perhaps the level of obsession was low and you are only just now getting around to pursuing your mud interests with more vigor? If that is the case, then your experiencing less obsession with marginal mud would makes sense as you have options that a person with a greater level of obsession does not.
So, if this is what is going on, it should actually be a source of joy for you as you've basically determined that your level of obsession is low and you are free to only enjoy the mud activities that still have value to you and are able to pass on marginal ones now that you've experienced them. Many of us do not have the option to forgo doing more marginal, risky, or strenuous mud activities as our obsession level is higher.
Viewing mud porn could indeed increase your interest in doing mud activities but the question is, is that what you really want? Also, perhaps you have other fetishistic interests that you are more obsessed about than mud? Doing mud takes a lot of time and effort, perhaps those other older interests are easier to do which would explain why you've backed off on doing mud after having gotten into it big time later in life?
If bored is interpreted as meaning you no longer find mud activities sexually exciting, I think that probably can happen but is unlikely if your level of obsession is high. So, if you are experiencing less sexual excitement with marginal mud, all you are really observing is that your level of obsession is relatively low. I see that as a good thing, not something to be concerned about.

Re: Does anyone think that they will eventually get bored with QS?
I can kinda relate. I’ve been at this for a few seasons as well, at first I was so excited to find any mud. And now I’m getting particular. If the mud at the nearest place isn’t just right, I’m a lot less excited about going. And sometimes when I do go, I’m just not into it as I used to be. Before, I had to drag myself away, but now, I feel like it’s a lot easier to be done and clean up with little temptation to jump right back into it.
I think another aspect to it is that I’m a fairly social person. When a day at the mud spot got me all excited, other people weren’t much on my mind. But now that I’m more used to it, I go and start feeling like I wish this were a social experience. (But finding that friend who wants to go chillax in mud all day is not the easiest)

Re: Does anyone think that they will eventually get bored with QS?
I sometimes have to take a break from my quicksand "hobby".
When I was younger, before the internet, before there was even VCRs, I used to be on the hunt for quicksand scenes on TV, both old an new. There was a local TV station that would show the Tarzan and the Boomba movies on Saturday or Sunday mornings. I'd keep an eye on the local TV guide that gave the title and description of the one that would be on the coming weekend. I'd wait for months for each known QS scene, always hoping there would be a new one that I'd missed.
When the home video era started, I started recording scenes and kept the tape in safe place with a deceptive label.
I'd go through the horror and action section of every video store in the area and watched a lot of really bad movies looking for new scenes, mostly for naught. Then the internet came out and back in 1997 I found one of the early QS story sites. I remember staying up all night reading as many stories as I could. Back then, any quicksand scene, but especially ones with women was like pure GOLD!
Then Dave came out with his clip tapes, and then him and Chuck Lane came out with their custom QS videos. As time when on, and we got access to more and more scenes, I did start to notice, for lack of a better term, a dilution factor. Some scenes definitely worked better than others, and I began to to notice patters and began to rate scenes based on many of my own personal preferences. For one thing, I find that the Hollywood style pits are not really working for me anymore. I like thick gooey sticky quicksand, which is why I love the clay and bleck pits that Dave uses.
Long story short, I've gotten more particular and selective in the types of scenes I like. I like the drama scenes, not the glamor or sexy scenes where a girl is rubbing herself in the pit and cooing about how good it feels.
As I said, I'm not crazy about the Hollywood pits, although there were a few with Summer that work very very well!
If I see any water below the stuff floating on the surface, it totally kills the illusion for me.
So, back in 1999, I found Poser after seeing Der Mud Gecko's mini QS movie and feel in love with the idea of making my own QS movies the way I wanted. I had a lot of fun, but once again something was missing. There was no way to make the quicksand surface in the 3D software react the way quicksand should. Although I really loved animating in Poser, I lost interest in doing QS movies because it just was not worth it when you could not make the quicksand behave like quicksand.
I found one tool that sorta kind worked, but it was not ideal.

Then I used that tool to make my blob movie, Creeping Crud.
https://www.deviantart.com/qsvgitguy/ar ... -653106216
I liked the idea of blobs for they were like Proactive Quicksand!
I had a lot of fun making that movie, but it took a year and a half to make. During that time, I got into Vore, for I found it had a lot of the same elements as quicksand. As the years and the number of movies I made continued to grow, I learned new techniques and improved my animation skills, but still was longing to do more quicksand, but felt it was impossible due to the same issue.
Then in 2011, I found Real Flow!
I finally found a way to make simulated quicksand and have it behave realistically, but without the physics problems Dave and his crew have in real life. So, I've made a few movies with quicksand since then, and despite a lot of technical problems and the really long simulation times, I've been having a blast!

I've continued to learn new techniques and try new things to make the movies more compelling and more realistic. I'm finishing up with my latest, Butt First, and hope to release it soon. Thanks again for the permission to use the original story and sound Dave!
I guess the long and short of it is, I keep trying to find new ways to make the subject material fresh! It's not always easy to do, but what else am I going to do with my time?
Have a life?
Cheers everyone!

Re: Does anyone think that they will eventually get bored with QS?
I echo some of the comments here when it comes to getting older! In my 20's I never even knew what a "fetish" was! But I enjoyed sinking and playing in mud. By my 30's I was really into it, but my now ex-wife wasn't. So it had to stay a secret. In my 40's and free from my ex I really became active. By then the Internet sites were really getting active and a lot of new producers made content. But I was more interested in getting out into the mud. I probably went out 4-5 times a month.
Then I got into my 50's. Now I have to deal with muscle aches, joint pains, and a pacemaker! Thankfully my wife (whom I met about six years ago) has no problem with me having fun. But I also can't enjoy it as much now. I might get out 4-5 times a year, but then I take a couple days to recover! And my job is much more demanding now, since I have to manage a large territory (which covers about 1/5th of the US!).
Oh, and did I mention that I'm not as skinny as I used to be! Believe it or not, that makes sinking much harder. Fat floats! And trying to sink past my hips is nearly impossible! Hell, I can float in my pool without even trying. I dive to the bottom and pop back up like a cork!
Unfortunately I am not one that enjoys videos that much. I have a couple MPV DVD's that I bought a few years ago, and I think I've watched them once! Photos, however, are something I love. And I do have a LARGE collection of those. Some are my own photography, but others are from Duncan, Dave, Fred, Chuck (RIP), Rob (RIP) and Nessie. And I'll look at those a few times a month just to remember when I could go out regularly.
And, today will be one of those rare outing days. I'm getting ready to pack up my ATV and go exploring. I may not find mud, but that's perfectly fine. It's a beautiful day, and I have it off! So I'll enjoy it.
And I doubt I'll get bored!

Some do, some don't.
