Me Tarzan: Alison's Surprise

Postby Sparky81 » Mon Aug 05, 2019 1:31 pm

Please feel free to comment as you like. I look forward to any kind of feedback. Thank you

The last thing I wanted to do was go to Sunday dinner at Alison’s. Mrs. C. had just crushed my quicksand fantasies the day before. But I promised Alison I would come to dinner Sunday so she could thank me for pulling her out of the quicksand at the quarry. Dinner wasn’t it though; she said she had some things she wanted to tell me about Herb, Kayla, and Judy.
Alison lives in the Harbor district. What was a collection of old abandoned brick factories and warehouses are now a trendy upscale area of restaurants, night spots, and townhouses. I hopped on the elevator in her building up to the sixth floor. Her townhouse had a large open floor plan with 2 bedrooms tucked away in the back behind the kitchen.

“Ethan!” She threw her arms around my neck and kissed me on the cheek. “I’m so happy to see you! Come on!” I followed her to the living room area with a beautiful view of the ocean. As I looked out one of the three tall windows looking down at the water and the busy street below, Alison grabbed me a beer out of the fridge.

She sat on the couch next to me sipping some fruit drink. “I know you are probably anxious to hear what I have to say.” She folded her legs under her sun dress and continued. “Anything I say will be purely hypothetical. That NDA I signed this week is very rigid in that I’m not allowed to disclose one word of what it contains.”

“I won’t lie; it’s been on my mind since you sent me that text.”

She nodded and put her drink on the coffee table beside her. “You pretty much know about Herb and Kayla, but Judy, you have no idea. She’s just as bad as they are.” Alison must have saw the awful look of surprise on my face and quickly continued. “I know all about your relationship with Judy through Kayla. Remember, I was her personal assistant. Trust me Ethan; she is every bit as dangerous and cold hearted as Kayla.”

“I’m sorry but you have it all wrong. Judy is a victim of Herb and Kayla’s cruelty. She’s been trapped for years.”

“Trapped!” Alison threw her hands in the air. “Come on Ethan! You can’t believe that!” She stood up and began to pace in front of me. “When Judy pushed Kayla into the quicksand at the quarry did she go right under?”

“Well no-“

“No, she was sinking slowly while you and Judy watched. Judy and Kayla began arguing as she sank deeper. There was no doubt it might be deep enough for her to drown no?” Alison stood in front of me with her arms crossed holding her drink.

“From what I recall Kayla sank slow and steady.”

Alison waved me off and turned to face the large windows. “When Kayla started to call for help she was…at her shoulders but you and Judy still watched. In fact Judy held you back from saving Kayla.” As she said it, she turned back toward me. “Kayla told me she said she couldn’t feel the bottom. That she was going under, yet nothing from Judy. When she went under what happened? Do you remember?” She took a long drink standing there as if she was a prosecutor and I was on the stand.

“When Kala went under, a few seconds went by. Then her hand came up from the under the mud reaching for help.”

“Then that’s when you tried to save her?” The way she asked the question, she knew the answer.

“You seem to know what happened, you tell me.”

Alison tilted her head back and finished her drink. “Sure I’ll tell you. Kayla reached but the both of you watched her hand sink back under. Kayla didn’t remember much after that. Why don’t you fill me in?”

“Why, what are you getting at. You know the rest don’t you?”

Alison screamed back at me from the kitchen while she refilled her drink. “What am I get at!?! What am I getting at!?! The mud puckered with Kayla’s bubbles! Judy could have saved her but instead she let her drown! Kayla, her ex-lover and friend! She stood there and waited until the bubbles stopped to let you try to find Kayla!”
She paused only for another sip of her drink. “Only by some miracle,” waving her hands in the air, you got her breathing again. Judy had no problem watching Kayla drown.”

I felt I needed to defend Judy. “Look, Kayla had just confessed-“

Alison cut me off again. “Don’t give me that bullshit about Kayla being a horrible person. I know damn well what she confessed to. Bottom line is Judy watched Kayla drown and it isn’t the first time she killed someone.”

That last part was a punch in the gut. “What do you mean “isn’t the first time?”

“I…I’m feeling a bit buzzed. Forget what I said.” She quickly walked away to the kitchen to check on dinner.

“I don’t give a shit. I want to know what you mean by that.”

Starring at me with for several seconds she continued reluctantly. “What I’m about to tell can get me killed if they found out. (Kayla, Herb and Judy) I need you to understand that. Please tell me you understand because my life depends on it.

Alison, I need to know and I promise I won’t tell anyone.”

We sat down on the couch and she starred again out the windows. “Did Judy ever tell you about Pattie Sykes?”

Judy had told me but I wanted to hear Alison’s version. “No, who is that?”

Not turning away from the window she spoke soft and slow as if in a daze. “Pattie Sykes was a pool secretary for the IT dept. This was about 2001 and Herb was part of the group Pattie supported. She was young, a larger woman, very curvy and very much on Herb’s radar. They nicknamed her “Peaches” because she was from down south and had huge boobs.” He asked her to part of a special project group. One Friday night while they both worked late, Herb spiked what she was drinking with the date rape drug. He raped her. When Pattie came to, Herb promised her the world but she wasn’t having it. She ran out of the office right to the nearest E.R. The E.R. Doc helped keep a lid on things because of the kickbacks from Textil. Herb panicked and got Kayla involved. Donna wise, the woman who interviewed you, checked her personal file and found Pattie a severe peanut allergy. That Monday when she supposed to meet with HR at Textil, the police and her sister Gwen, found her dead. She died from anaphylaxis. Judy was one that killed her.”

What did she just say? I sat there numb and unable to speak. Could this be true?

Next chapter: Gwen Sykes and quicksand.

Hey, Sparky, glad to see another installment in your series. Boy, it sounds like Ethan is learning that he can't trust anyone, although I wonder how truthful Alison is being with him about Herb, Kayla, and Judy. I'll have to look back through some of your earlier chapters to refamiliarize myself with the details of the interactions between the various characters. And judging from the title of your next chapter, I presume that Ethan will soon be rescuing yet another damsel from quicksand! :)
