Gabby & Abby

Postby IxelFate » Mon Oct 14, 2019 10:20 am

This is my first submission in about a year, so please forgive as I am pretty rusty...

Enjoy!

——
It was a bright and cool autumn day. The leaves on the trees had just began to transition from green to brown, leading to a beautiful array of yellows and reds to hang from the branches and litter the ground.

Outside, enjoying the gorgeous day was the couple of Abigail and Gabrielle. The two girls held hands as they walked down the scenic forest path.

Gabrielle, or Gabby as Abigail called her, was the taller of the two. Her long light brown hair flowed down off of her shoulders. She wore a light, yellow sweatshirt over a pair of skinny blue jeans along with a pair of knee-high brown boots.

Next to her was Abigail, or Abby. She stood a head shorter than her girlfriend. Her purple hair was tied up in a neat ponytail and was covered by a white sun hat. She wore one of Gabrielle's sweaters, a sky blue one that was a size too big for her. She also wore a pair of black and white striped tights with a denim skirt over them and a pair of black Converse shoes.

The girls were talking about a story Abigail was writing. A sci-fi romance between two space heroines based closely off of her and Gabby.

"...and then, when all hope seemed lost for Heather, Lexi bursts in to save her true love from- uh oh!"

Suddenly the wind picked up, causing Abby's hat to fly off of her head and into the depths of the forest. The two girls giggled to each other before Abby took a step towards where her hat disappeared. Gabrielle put a hand out to stop her.

"You wait here, baby. I'll go get it," Gabby said as she kissed Abigail on the cheek. Abby smiled and nodded as she watched her girlfriend walk into the brush and vanish into the forest.

While she waited, Abby got onto her phone to browse the latest selection of cat and dog memes on an app she had. This is how she stood for a few minutes.

Suddenly Abby heard a loud, desperate scream come from within the woods. A cry coming from Gabby.

"Abby! H-help!"

Abigail immediately slipped her phone back into her pocket and rushed into the forest where she saw Gabby go in. Panic rushed through her body as a million different scenarios flooded her mind.

So caught up in her thoughts, she almost didn't notice her sneaker plunge into the mud.

"Abby, be careful! It's quicksand!" Gabrielle cried.

Abigail snapped back to reality. She pulled her foot free and looked up to see her girlfriend up to her waist in the leaf-covered, muddy ground.

"G-Gabby, are you okay??" Abby asked frantically.

"Yes, baby, I'm fine. But I'm sinking. I need you to get me out of here," Gabrielle said in a shaky yet calm manner. Despite trying to remain still, she still settled down a few inches deeper.

"Right! Just don't struggle, I'll get something to pull you out!" Abby said as she began searching for anything that would aid in saving her girlfriend.

Gabrielle sighed, trying to stop herself from panicking too much. Nevertheless, she settled down to her chest in the mud.

"Ah! Found something!" Abby said as she came back to the pit with a long, thin stick in her hands. She extended it towards Gabrielle, who latched onto it tight with both hands.

Abby began to pull with all her might, beginning to pull Gabrielle out inch by inch. Both women breathed a sigh of relief as this brief nightmare was almost over...

...Until the branch snapped, sending Gabby falling backwards, plunging her deeper into the quicksand up to her shoulders.

"Gabby!" Abigail cried, reaching her half of the branch back out over the pit, coming way short of Gabrielle.

"Abby, p-please hurry... find something else." Gabrielle said, shifting a little bit in her trap, causing the mud to swallow up her shoulders.

Abigail let out a squeak of panic as she resumed her hunt for Gabby's saving grace... all to no avail.

"Abby..." Gabrielle said, tilting her head back in order to keep her face free of the muck.

"Gabby no! Um... Uh... Oh!" A light bulb went off over Abigail's head. She quickly removed her sweater, revealing a tight, white tank top underneath. She grabbed hold of one sleeve and tossed the other end to her quickly sinking girlfriend. "Take this!"

It took a few swipes, but Gabrielle finally clutched the fabric tightly just in time before her face sank beneath the surface...

"Hang on Gabby!" Abigail yelled as she began to pull as hard as she could. She strained every muscle she had, determined to rescue her beloved.

Finally, Gabby's face broke the surface again. She took a deep breath, drawing much needed oxygen back into her body.

"Thank goodness... Just hang on, Gabby." Abigail said as she continued pulling.

It took several minutes, but soon Abigail freed Gabrielle, causing Abby to fall backwards with Gabby falling onto her.

"My hero..." Gabrielle said, wiping her face clear of mud, both of them smiling while gazing into each other's eyes.

"Like I would ever let something bad happen to you."

The two girls shared a kiss while they laid in the grass and leaves, holding one another in silence.

"I'm sorry I couldn't find your hat." Gabrielle finally said, causing Abby to giggle.

"That's all right, you mean way more too me."

The two shared one more kiss before finally returning home...

"The end..." Abigail said.

The two girls sat at the entrance of the forest. Abigail sat with her back against a tree and Gabrielle laying in her lap. Both had just gotten out of school, still donning their school uniforms. They just wanted to enjoy this beautiful day before starting on their homework.

"God, baby. You tell the best stories..." Gabby said, gazing up into the sky.

Abby giggled and leaned down to kiss Gabrielle, "And I'll you as many as you want, as long as you're happy."

The two gathered their things and began their trek home, holding hands all the way.

"Do you think we'll ever find real quicksand?" Abby asked.

Gabrielle shrugged. "I don't know. But until we do, your fantasies are just as good."

Abigail smiled. She was excited to get to work imagining up some fun and steamy stories for her and her girlfriend...

Oh, okay, a story within a story. I got almost to the end thinking that Abby's "The end" meant that their quicksand adventure had provided the perfect ending to her sci-fi story, only to find that the "made-up" story was that of the quicksand after all. A nice twist with a nice touch, IxelFate! :D

Thank you thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully more of Abby’s tales come around real soon... ;)
