Adventures In Paradise - Nightmare on Napuka

Scrolling through Crypto's updated quicksand jogged an old memory of a show I saw ages ago. It's missing from his list.

Based on a concept by novelist James Michener, 'Adventures In Paradise' was a three season adventure show on ABC. The lead character was a schooner captain named Adam Troy, played by Gardner McKay, who always sounded like he was half asleep during his performance.

In the episode 'Nightmare on Napuka', a scheming criminal (Martin Landau) leads a French naval officer and seaman right into a stretch of quicksand. A French doctor stumbles into it while trying to rescue the other two. Mckay's character saves all three with a heavy tree branch.

I just found the episode on Roku's streaming service, of all places. Someone apparently digitized tape copies of the show.

As a strictly damsel-in-distress fan, I'll leave it to someone else to capture the video.

I remember that scene when I was very young. Seem to remember the person tricking them saying “ have a nice swim”. Would like to see that again !
