It started good with a cute girl falling into a nice pit of sand. What killed it for me is when Freddy pushed her head under. I mean come on...it is supposed to be quicksand. She isn't getting out by movie standards so let it work its own magic.

Ditto, that made me a tad fussy as well. I think freddy had to push her under. The bog she was in looked too dry and it looked like it was drying up. So next time lets tell Freddy to get a tarp under that bog so it won't go dry on the cute actress.

So close, so very close, and since submersion was heavily implied why not be brazen and go for it??? Would have been a memorable commercial even for the non-quicksand-oriented.

Quality-wise, I'd have to agree that the Acid Eaters scene is dreadful.

i remember seeing this commercial when it was on tv. it did show her submerge completely under. i loved it.

The version that played in this region never showed her get past upper nose/eye-level when it faded black; if you did see her submerge (I envy you!) it must have been another version, a *wonderful* version indeed. I certainly hope that shows up eventually!

All I could find on YouTube was the version where it fades to black without any submergence:

And an edited, slowed down version emphasizing the sink, with no submergence:

I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

Major turn offs:

* Anywhere where the damsel is terrified. It just doesn't work for me at all. Absolutely kills all interest in the scene. Unfortunately, that makes at least half the World's quicksand material useless to me. Each to his own.

* Masturbation: I don't know these ladies even slightly. I'm just uncomfortable watching something so private, even if it is all fake. Weird huh?

* Incompatible age: if she looks young enough to be my daughter or old enough to be my mother, again, no interest.

* Unwilling sinker: if I get the sense that the actress isn't really into it, I feel sorry for her, instead of enjoying the sinking.

Other disappointments:
* thin, definitely-not-gooey-in-any-way fake quicksand
* fake struggling in something that's not thick, or half-hearted 'clawing' to get out. We can tell, you know!
* messy face - no thanks.

For any possible aspect of this genre, I'm sure there will be some people who find it essential, others who can't stand it.

As a counterpoint to an otherwise negative post, I love the exploring scenes, both amateur and actress. The 'first time' scenes can be great too (cautious is fine). Plain no-plot sinking is fine. Anything where a fit gal goes readily, slowly, surely into deep, thick mud :-)

KS

PS In response to Billie (below), it is quite possible to be sexually aroused by the deep mud experience without involving masturbation (fingering of genitals). That's just not something I'm keen on seeing. Regards reasons for getting into mud: the main reason is just that if feels great, but there are other less immediately sexual reasons for deliberately getting into the mud, such as: exploring; rescuing; construction/conservation/agricultural work; testing/renovating a mud pit or a new area; athletic training; sporting event. None of these are fearful, but actually for me they don't really work that well as a plot device for getting the leading lady into the mud: it's difficult to realistically reconcile the plot with staying in the mud. In the end I prefer no plot, just sinking because it feels so good.

I know very well how different people are, and I supposed that it's hard to surprise me by any kinks. I can enjoy it or not, but I admit that someone can have any particular strange combination of interests. However, the previous post put me in a state of bewilderment. I can't understand one thing: if someone doesn't like both masturbation in quicksand and terror of quicksand, what else is left to enjoy? Who goes into quicksand willingly and without fear with a purpose other than masturbation? I have no guess...

So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Any video where the girl gets rescued by someone else. It would be better if a girl goes to rescue the girl in quicksand and she also gets stuck

In The 6 Million Dollar Man episode (Operation Firefly) I thought the quicksand scene was fair. That is not more than 5 seconds after she was rescued her pants were washing machine clean as if she'd never been in it. Then when she went into the lab to meet her father I think it would have added if her pants were still muddied from the quicksand her I feel that would have opened the door for her father to ask what happened. Maybe that's drawing it out a bit but that still could have added to the scene.
Also in the show Search and Rescue the Alpha Team where a guy jumped his motorcycle into some quicksand. He never did seem to sink afterward especially considering how long he was suppose to be in it when helped arrived.
I remember in an episode of Baywatch called the Natural I think it would have been better had they used a gal instead for the sinking scene.

Good topic! I thought about this; and as I read the responses, I found myself shaking my head in agreement on most comments. Then, i remembered something and came to two conclusions. First, by the standards of my personal holy grail, nothing hollywood did ever came close. However, I remember those prehistoric times before the internet, computers, and even (gasp) VCRs. Back when I was the Only One.... And I remember being so thrilled about glimpsing those very scenes, especially where they were unexpected. So, I have to point to the places where there should have been a scene, but there wasn't, as severe disappointments. Adrienne Barbeau in Swamp Thing AND Avacado Jungle of Death comes to mind.
