For many years, I have been envisioning a movie similar to "The Blob", but it involves one that oozes underground between the particles of soil, turning the soil it is present in, into quicksand, which is how it devours its prey! Perhaps this is the one!

ghostofmyeyes wrote:Based on the script review I linked, it sounds like this vore quicksand will already be rapidly digesting people before they've even submerged - there will be pain and gore/body horror - like in The Sand (2015) or The Blob (1988). Not my thing.

However, it seems to be during the second sink that the first mention that "it burns" is made and the first gore revealed - perhaps when the first girl sinks, it will be played indistinguishably from a regular quicksand scene, enjoyable to the likes of me (with a bit of mental compartmentalization).

I wonder if this poster for the movie "Blood Beach" is representative of what to expect? I decided to link to it instead of showing it here, due to its gore! :o

As soon as I saw the star's name, Van Dien, I figured it must be Caspar Van Dien's daughter. Yep. Looks like his daughter is going to pay for all his near misses with everything from Starship Troopers to Tarzan. That does make her Robert Mitchum's grandaughter though so unlike dad, maybe she's more than just a pretty face. From what I can discern about the script it sounds like more of a gore-fest then anything I'd be interested in but hey, The Raft was all about sentient sludge and it had moments. We'll see.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Funny you mentioned The Raft. I just mentioned to someone the other day that Creepshow 2 (The Raft) should be an honorable mention QS scene.

Over the past while, looking at the earlier AI images posted in the AI Creations forum, I would every once in a while come across an image that reminded me of "The Raft", because the mud sometimes seemed to form wormlike tendrils that ran up through the victim's skin!

It is still listed as "pre-production" so it might happen this year or never. We'll keep watching for news.

This is the sad case with many films. If they announced it and they are still in “preproduction” a year later it probably means they are still hunting for a financier or something got pulled out from under them. Keep your eyes open but I wouldn’t expect much if it lost steam this long in.

Throughout the 80's and most of the 90's I had a side business writing and selling computer software - things we would call "apps" today. I never announced anything until it was finished, tested, and ready for dlivery. Many, many others, however, fell into the trap of announcing a program when it was half done or not fully tested, then ran into issues, and promptly disappeared (the company disappeared). The term used for this at the time was "vaporware." Sometimes I thnk they might have beed chasing funding, sometimes they were just premature, and sometimes their announcement might have been just a trial balloon. In any case it generally ended badly. For myself, Ishut down that business in the late 90s because as a full time univerity professor I cold no longer keep up with programing to run under Windows.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

The Architect company, in charge of distribution I think, still has a (misnamed) page up for The Swallow, though there seems to be no link to it on their main page:

https://www.architect-global.com/copy-o ... eek-legacy

The national mood is so perfect right now for low-budget, highly sensational movies about the ground under your feet not being safe and reliable, it would be quite regrettable for investors to pull back. It's the perfect time for Quicksand Revival and they want to miss out!?
