quicksand question...

Postby jagfiles » Sat Aug 24, 2024 2:08 am

Here's a fun question for everyone.
In a TV show or movie what is the most people you have seen in quicksand at once?
In a video what is the most people you see in it at once?

For movies, I would have to go with The Mongols - Anita Ekberg had a lot of company in the Pripet Marshes scene near the end, all those horsemen. TV, a little tougher on the memory - maybe the Sheena scene with the models all sinking at once?

Apart of The Mongols, I remember the movie Krull (1983) where a group of thieves cross a swamp and several sink in qs; also The King Solomon's Mines (1985) with a group of nazi soldiers trapped and sinking; Finally, the film Curse of the Crystal Eye (1991) where a group of people cross a suspension bridge over a QS well, the bridge breaks and everyone falls, including the only woman in the group played by Cynthia Rhodes, actress of Dirty Dancing... At that moment I remembered a movie, I don't remember the name, there is a scene where a group of 6 or 8 mature men, who are in the countryside, find a young woman stuck up to her legs in a swamp, they make a human chain and one by one they enter the swamp until the first one manages to reach the young woman, they manage to rescue her and the woman thanks them and runs, but they are trapped without help.

King Solomon's Mine had a number of nasty men sinking in one scene who were gunned down in it by nastier men.

Yea, without doing a full blown analysis, this is spot on: The Mongols, Krull, King Solon's Mines and Curse of the Crystal Eye. For sheer scale (and probably the most victims (not to mention horses as well)), I would give the nod to The Mongols.

The last scene mentioned is as Scandinavian (Norwegian?) short film. The entire film, except for a few minutes at the beginning, is a clip.
The Wizard of Ooze stays behind the curtain!
