It was intense and vivid and very nicely descriptive. I also really liked the 'voice in your head' approach. It captures your photographer's latent fetish awakening quite well. Bravo!
Thank you so much! I wanted to explore 2 different aspects of my fascination with women in quicksand, which I'm sure apply to many other people with the same fetish. The image was initially simply the result of me practising with poses and sinking depths in Daz, but having her hand reaching out to the viewer made me start thinking about what kind of story I wanted to tell.
On one hand, I'm not a huge fan of grim endings; even if a story or piece of art concludes with a grim ending, I always like to imagine the damsel in distress somehow miraculously being able to escape even after submerging. There's a part of me that likes to imagine that if she isn't able to extricate herself, that somebody (often a proxy for myself) was able to pull her out in the critical moments after she submerges.
On the other hand, there's something so terrifyingly exciting about witnessing someone in danger, the fear and terror experienced by a beautiful lady as she goes under, and it's the grim scenarios that capture this the best. Someone can't play the hero if the damsel in distress is never actually in mortal peril. The deeper she gets, the higher the stakes, and the more heroic the rescue.
Like ghostofmyeyes commented on this piece on DeviantArt:
If the outcome was never grim, no meaningful tension would be released by a rescue. If the outcome was never escape, there would never be the feeling of "Wow, it's actually happening, she's not going to make it!"
And so I decided to explore both facets in this story. I chose a second-person narrative and didn't explicitly state the main character's gender, because I wanted to make it feel more immersive. People can insert themselves into the role of the main character more easily, and depending on their preferences, decide what sort of ending they want.

Sure! Several people have been very helpful and provided valuable advice and guidance. I've also been going through a lot of tutorials and just fooling around to see what's possible. I don't know if I'll ever explore Poser, but who knows? I never knew I'd be playing with Daz half a year ago.

Thank you! And oh my goodness, it's you! I was revisiting a bunch of your stories from a long time ago. They were a very important part of my early years as a young adult.
I deliberately chose to leave it open-ended for the reader to decide. It all depends on how you want the story to continue from the last line, as she's about to go under.
People who prefer grim endings might choose to give in to the whispers and watch as she submerges. Maybe after the thrill of watching someone sink and go under, they become a villain, and become addicted to the desire to watch more people sinking in this spot.
People who prefer that the damsel in distress be rescued will try to disregard the dark thoughts and grab her hand. It's up to you to decide if she gets saved before or after she goes under.
But it can go many other ways.
It's possible that the rescue attempt failed; maybe you (the main character) tried your best to save her, but she slipped out of your grasp and went under. Or like I hinted in the story, you ended up falling in as well and joined her in the marsh, and both of you submerged. And if so, it could have ended in different ways. Maybe both of you went down screaming and flailing about in terror. Or maybe both of you gave in to base instincts and shared your final moments together, finding passion and pleasure in the midst of your imminent demise.
Or maybe it was an act of self-sacrifice; you fought so hard to rescue her, and you succeeded, but at the cost of your own life, and now she's the one watching helplessly as you go under.
I'm tempted to do more renders showing some of these possible endings; I have a feeling that this isn't the last we've seen of this poor young lady.
But honestly, here's the ending that I've chosen for myself:
She goes under. But at the very last moment, you manage to fight off the intrusive thoughts and grab her hand. You fall in and join her in the marsh, and you almost go under too, but after a long struggle, both of you manage to escape. She's eternally grateful to you for saving her life, and both of you share a tender, intimate moment. And after all the excitement, something stirs deep inside her as well. Like you, she too is suddenly seeing the idea of sinking in quicksand in a brand new light, and guess what, now both of you know someone else who's just experienced the same awakening...

Hey, I'm a hopeless romantic.
