Dark sultry and inviting, and that's just the bog!

Lots of great additions lately, can only pick too few of them....

Hmm, possibly another pic that caters both Max and me! Also nice area, quite the "sunken forest". I've seen these, them are old peat-extraction-sites that have been reflooded.

They are okay. For light explorations i also use simple household-gloves. Most often i still manage to get too deep and they become swamped completely. Not that i mind....

Edit:
What is it with that "Anvil" youre talking about so often? Do they use it as some kind of sinking-aid? Should i try that, too?

I'll second that thought. My current prompt/style setups produces a few of these.

Just as long as it isn't the alarm clock!

MadMax359 wrote:and each gal can use a wader with a weak neck strop!

Those neck straps really aren't that good, they are always a weak point, the braces type work better, though they can slip of the shoulder which is a bit of a nuisance. I tend to cross the straps on my chest waders in front (the one over the right shoulder goes to the left side etc), this way they never slip off the shoulder.

MadMax359 wrote:good lass! by all means pull on that anvil!!

Yep, we are going to need that one again.

The description for this area was based on a real location I used in some of my photomanips years ago:

download/file.php?id=734&mode=view

This was a small birch wood around the edge of a pond, one year, in a drought, the pond almost dried up and the level dropped exposing the tree roots and leaving a fibrous peat and leaf mixture. It was surprisingly deep in places, when taking pictures I started about knee deep, then when I went to move for a better angle the weight-bearing leg sank to the top of my thigh. Shifting my weight back left me hip deep. I carefully put my camera down on a clump next to the nearest tree and wrapped the strap round the tree. I moved about a bit more, but stopped when I was about three inches from the top of my chest waders and used the tree to pull myself out. I still felt I wasn't that close to anything solid, but didn't fancy a wet and messy 40 mile drive home.

The black heavy duty ones are a bit better, they are tougher and not as noticeable, people assume they are normal gloves. The main problem with short gloves is that, if you flood them when you raise your arm it all runs down you sleeve! The best ones are the long ones used for cleaning out fish ponds, they almost come up to the armpit. Alternatively you can get long black rubber ones that vets use when they have to ... well, you know, they usually come up to about the elbow or a bit higher.

That's the basic idea, voluntarily or involuntarily. I wouldn't recommend trying it, anvils don't come cheap these days, and you'd have to lug it there and back! It started a while ago about a rope or chain that disappeared into some quicksand and every now an then one of us mentions it again. I use it sometimes if I'm struggling for a caption. It's a bit of fun and has now become something of a running gag, a bit like my strawberry posts.

Some pics for tonight.

It seems like fun now, but ...

Can't say I've ever understood the fashion for torn jeans. I know I used to wear them, but that was because I was a student and couldn't afford a new pair! Maybe she's in the same position and can't afford a shirt either!

Those jackets are becoming fashionable!

That sounds really inviting. I hope you did return to that area for some more sinks!
A 40mile drive is a short ride for me. Both my bog and the coastal area are 250+ Miles away  And a wet and messy ride home sounds very familiar for me

I went back a couple of times, then it rained and the pond filled up, after that the water level was too high. Then a lot of the trees got cut down and it was too exposed. Wet rides back weren't practical, I lived in London at the time and the walk from the car to my flat was too public!

Ah, I've seen photo's of her before, not sure if it was that one but I definitely recognise the girl. Yep, those are the ones, good for clearing gutters as well.

MadMax359 wrote:Darling i never come here without a tide table...and you have hours of fun left!

As long as it's the right tide table, could be awkward if you were working from the wrong one! That place is pretty flat as well, so the tide is going to be moving quickly!

That's nice of you, especially considering how much they cost!

Acquo has recently released the Broadway+, 85cm of smooth rubber all the way up the leg. Also a smooth price of just 550 (european) bucks....
I believe, that one may cater the needs of both gals!
