Sweet. That's what? Maybe 2-3k down the road? Also looks like you could cut across country pretty easy and avoid the road most of the way.

It also looks like there is a marshy strip running parallel to the mudflats as well, that could be interesting to explore when the tide is too high for accessing the mudflats. It is a good thing you live in Melbourne, since that is too far south for crocs to survive, but just watch out for poisonous snakes! You are lucky to have sinking spots virtually in your own backyard! :D

Fantastic for you!

I live within 10 miles of a bunch of gravel mining operations, but they're all owned by 3M, with "No Trespassing" signs EVERYWHERE, so no fun there. (not legally, anyway, and I don't want to wind up on the wrong side of the table, in front of a judge!)

Its only about 1-1.5 ks away down that road. And the road is fenced off. It does have a no tresspassing sign on it but its owned by my work who also owns my house and I know for a fact its never checked or used by work. A farmer uses it to move cows from 1 field to another. Only down side to that spot is there isn't any were to clean up afterwards.

Might take a shovel down there and do some digging to make a spot for water to fill up.

As I mentioned, it looks like there is a marshy area running parallel to the shoreline. It contains ponds which could offer cleanup, if they aren't too difficult to reach through the vegetation. :? Checking Google Maps, I noticed some interesting looking ponds in that marshy stretch north of your photo which look like they could possibly offer sinking possibilities as well.

Living the dream mate! Well done

Looks like it's down Hastings way. Bugger about the cooler weather creeping up on us here.
