It's all part of this checkpoint's tendency to produce views from unusual angles and perspectives, which is one of the reasons I like it. Too many checkpoints just give you front on look at the camera pose, that gets boring after a time. This one responds more to posing direction, so I can get back views, side views, low or high perspectives etc. With this variety comes some odd image cropping, but I can live with that, some of these are interesting in their own way, like the headless woman here, it isn't a classic portrait but it is quite striking.
