As a major music lover, this one hits me harder than usual.

RIP my dear.

Grammy Award winner Roberta Flack, whose tranquil ballads and 1970s songs such as “Killing Me Softly With His Song” and “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” established her as a timeless R&B singer and songwriter, died Monday. She was 88.

Flack's death was announced by a spokesperson, who said she "died peacefully surrounded by her family"; the statement didn't say where she died. Flack suffered a stroke in 2016 and two years later collapsed during a concert, which forced her to use a wheelchair. In 2022, she was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, which took her ability to sing.

Yea, pretty tragic.

I only really knew her from EuroTrip, and anecdotally from her TV shows. She seemed nice.

 I remember her from Buffy. Still way too young to go.

Far, far too young :( RIP

I too remember her from Buffy; the series had its ups and downs, but overall was highly enjoyable - and quite interesting. Some unforgettable moments involving her Dawn character; the interactions on that show were awesome.

That's a big blow :(

Her rendition of "Jesse" is unforgettable.

Wow, I just heard this as soon as I turned on the news. What a great actor, one of the absolute best. Having been a so-so varsity basketball player in high school in the 1970’s, Hoosiers is one of my all-time favorite movies: “(Coach Norman Dale) What’s the matter with you guys? . . . What’s the matter with you!? . . . (Jimmy Chitwood) . . . I’ll make it.” A classic, but it was only one of many for Mr. Hackman. Really sorry to hear this one.
