"China Grove" absolutely fucks and all but you have any idea how hard it is to get a 25 year old model in "the zone" to pose listening to "Black Water" or "What a Fool Believes"?

Yea, doesn't sound like a winning mix. Hehe

We generally roll with a cicada background track (which was louder than normal this year). 8-)

They were pretty bad up here, too. Not sure if it was just the season we had but Cicada Killers were out in full force and honestly just a nuisance. A lot of my shoot locations were dunes and beaches this past season so the sandy/loose soil was just ideal for them to set up camp and scare my photo clients

You're not alone - Dark Side of the Moon was flawless, one of the best rock albums of the 70s, but after that...?

I found their albums pretty much interchangeable, there were a couple of good songs - Wish you Were Here and Have a Cigar come to mind - but The Wall and The Final Cut? No thanks.

In particular, I thought The Wall was just an unpleasant, dour experience altogether. :-|

After Waters split, I admire what Gilmour did with things like Delicate Sound of Thunder, but, I couldn't name you a single track off said disc...their stuff just meanders too much for my tastes.

Thirded. :)

I'll add another one that gets me dirty looks--The Beatles. My Mom was/is a huge Beatles fan, I've heard it all a thousand times and I'm sorry but all they sound like is a boy band to me, like the 60's version of 98 Degrees or the Backstreet boys.

Times Four

Guns 'n' Roses.

They always struck me as a second rate Aerosmith with a bit of punk rock aesthetic mixed in...and I LOATHED them, especially when Appetite for Destruction really picked up steam....again, second rate Aerosmith and the hits - Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child, Paradise City - got played to death...I can't bear to listen to them, and the rest of the album doesn't stick to the ribs for me.

The rest of their catalogue suffers form the law of diminishing returns.

To be fair, they have one the my favorite, best-ever anti-war anthems in Civil War, second only to Black Sabbath's War Pigs IMHO.

Now HERE we'd get into a fight LOL

I'm a BIG Beatles fan, but more from about '65/'66 forward when they stopped touring.

My big three are The White Album, Revolver and Rubber Soul....although I find Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road pretty dull, overall.

You probably would not like "Supper's Ready" by early Genesis with Peter Gabriel then, or Close To The Edge by YES. My favorites are the long complex tracks because I never get bored of them. Truth, you need to listen to them several times to start memorizing passages, and then the genius starts to peek out. I guess it's like learning to appreciate fine wines in a sort of way. Music that you turn the lights off, sit back and let it carry you away to new and wondrous places. My range is wide indeed.

Ya know, I actually enjoyed some Yes and Genesis. I even actually enjoyed Peter Gabriel and even his solo works. Are they at the top of my playlists? No but it’s definitely in my library along with The Police and Sting (Copeland and Vinnie Colaiuta, man!). Just with Floyd, I always felt every song was the same, much like a lot of the latest stuff by Tool is sounding. It wasn’t bad. Just felt very monotonous after a while. It’s all good. I am sure someone feels the same about my fascination with Arch Enemy. Lol

All my friends are Floyd fans. I don’t slight them for it. Tool kinda falls into the same vein as Floyd in a lot of ways so I get it. Just like you, I could never get past Dark Side so after that I just kinda lost interest. If I was listening to anything from that era, it was Sabbath, Zeppelin, or The Who. In fact, I still think Quadrophenia doesn’t get talked about enough LOL

Ugh, so torn here because the Beatles were the one band I seriously tried to like but I just can’t do it. Ringo has a meter many of us drummers would dream about and I just couldn’t. What is odd is tbh, I thought more of their respective solo careers more than anything. Some artists I feel are better solo. For instance I liked the Eagles. Never really loved them but Don Henley, Vince Gill and Joe Walsh solo careers? Amazing

I thought GnR were strong coming out but when you give a bunch of kids a lot of money and no sense of responsibility, you can’t expect it to last forever. Use your Illusion wasn’t bad. After? Hot garbage.

I should also say that around the time Use Your Illusion came out, Pantera released Vulgar Display of Power and I was hooked. Nothing sat right with me after that. 92 was also an incredible and interesting year for music, too. Dream Theater, Faith No More, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Alice in Chains, Helmet, and Megadeth all released albums that year so it was a pretty stacked year for GnR to contend with
