scene length..

Postby jagfiles » Tue Jun 15, 2010 7:11 pm

Here's a fun question.
In a tv show how long should a quicksand scene be for let's say a 30 minute show and a 60 minute show?
A. A mintue
B. A couple of minutes
C. Atleast 5 minutes
D. The longer the better

Ok now how about a scene in a movie..
A. Atleast a couple of minutes
B. Atleast 5
C. Atleast 10
D. The longer the better

Maybe you ought to make it a poll !
Tarzan to Jill Hardy: Girl be still. Not sink!!"
From "Valley Of Mystery" : Don't struggle and do not thrash around; that just makes things worse!

It depends on had I sex before watching the show or not
There’s so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

The obvious answer would be D for both. But due to time constraints I'd say either B or C.

I think that should vary by the scene. If you can grab interest, tell the story, and come to an ending, then you've done your job. In general, longer will be more fun, but in that I prefer "stuck" to "drowned", it can take a LONG time without being a bother. ;-)

I think the answer depends upon your definition of "the scene." Let's take "Tarzan's Hidden Jungle" for example. The quicksand scene is about two minutes long, but the build-up, with Vera Miles getting lost, is about 10 minutes. It is the prelude that makes this the best scene ever. I think each scene has to be judged on its merits individually. Having said that, the slower the sink, the better.

I guess it depends on the scene...do I like it?
