Was This You?

Postby Nessie » Sat Jul 24, 2010 8:35 pm

This is not an ad looking for a companion.

I'm trying to find out if the guy who barged in on me right before I got to the mudpit today is a member here. Whoever you are, you walked out off the beaten path far enough to pass a couple nearly-hidden sinkholes and the ground had to be boinging under your feet, for sure. Your shirt was off (after cleaning up?) and you didn't seem to care about heat and weeds.

(You need a new pickup line...I'm serious, that was really bad...but hey, I'll cut you a break.)

I got a feeling I'm not going to have any luck with this, but anyway...you can positively identify yourself by providing me, through private messaging, with the full license plate number of your vehicle.

I know it already, because I wrote it down before I left.

Please tell us if you get a positive or not. This is both hilarious and awesome.

No reply as of yet.

There is one thing that is not awesome about it at all.

There will be no more clips or even private wallowings at Poison Sumac Bog, which is the beautiful pit in "Barely Beat The Rain" without further information unless the camera guy who initially showed me the place can accompany me. He's 100% trustworthy and close by too but he's partially disabled, which is why he doesn't get out there with me much.

I don't particularly mind if there's another regular out there. I wouldn't even care if he really does the same mudpits.

But was the guy safe? His behavior was kind of iffy. It was definitely an attempted pickup and borderline pushy.

Nessie,

If you're going to go mudding by yourself, please invest some time, money, and energy into some martial arts classes. (Not that they'll be greatly useful if you're caught sunk to your neck someplace) If I were anywhere nearby, I'd be tickled to offer to sink with you, but you're a bummer drive from Arkansas. :-\

This is why I'll unfortunately never share my spots with anyone, at least not unless they want to meet up someplace else first and get to know me. Martial arts or even a CCW permit aren't going to help you if some wacko shows up when you're sunk in deep and can't quickly get out.
Sorry to hear about your experience Nessie. Hope you can find another spot.

To learn martial arts properly takes a big investment of time. And I suspect you're right about this not doing a lot of good if you're already in the mudpit. It'd be easier for me to pack a gun but exactly where do I keep it when I'm sinking?

(Weird aside...it occurred to me later that a good defense for me might actually be running INTO the area with all the squishy ground and deep sinkholes. I mean...I know every little thing in there by now...I sink deep, I crawl out...I'm not scared of mud that's over my head at all. This guy, who was definitely on the big lumbering heavy side, would certainly break through before I did and if he ain't one of us, when he shoots down to at least his waist and possibly into a pit that's over his head, he'd probably totally freak. Meanwhile, I'm dancing over, or through, the sinkholes and into the lake, where, by the way...I can swim, indefinitely, without ever needing the bottom. And there's two boat landings across the water to swim toward. The only downside is there wouldn't be time to avoid the sumac leaves before I jumped into the lake, but maybe it'll wash off in there...him, though, he's gonna break out for sure, HA!)

No, I don't share my locations either. I figure that for me it'd be an indication that I have no more brain than a worm.

Well, all's not completely lost. I may be back after all...just, not alone.

Yeah...most of my quicksand friends don't live here either...and I really don't think that they should pay for plane tickets just to do this for me either.

But I appreciate the thought. Thank you.

And this experience has 100% confirmed one thing.

I know not where my fetish comes from, or why it exists...but whatever it is, one thing that is now positively confirmed is that it is not based on adrenaline.

Adrenaline doesn't even feel good. I've had it a few other times in my life...most notably during a couple car accidents in my youth...and I'm always glad to get rid of it. I'm not thrilled about this. I'm not excited about it, proud of it, or the least bit pleased about it.

I wish it hadn't happened at all.

Mudpits, even when they're over my head for depth, are peaceful, safe, serene bogs of cushy comfort surrouned by lush natural beauty to me.

what a story I would hate to have an interloper come upon me like that...oh of course unless it was a nice looking woman :) that somehow got steered off the beaten path, but seriously I really enjoy my alone time while Im exploring, dont like being followed at all. I think you have a pretty good defense mecanism there having a few soft spots planned ahead of your mudpit gives you the advantage somehow...bravo and cheers....
