One More Nugget of Wisdom, if You wouldn't mind sharing?

Postby Theog » Sun Aug 08, 2010 6:30 pm

Hey, I posted on here a few weeks ago asking for general advice about sinking.
All of that is good now, and thanks to all who replied.
I now have a spot I go to, and I know of a few cleanup spots ear by I can use if I have to. However, it is one of those spots consisting of a brown mud layer with darker, almost black clay or mud underneath. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips about cleanup from such mud, as the only negative is it staining clothes, as it is murder to get out before heading home. Good tips would be anything from any materials people have found resistant to retaining the muds colour, or techniques for getting the colouring out.
I am currently cleaning up in a stream/small river, which is doing ok, but the colour is sometimes noticeable upon arriving home. Thanks in advance for any help.

Clay is harder to get off but in my experience it doesn't stain clothing. Best thing to do is wear as little clothing as possible. I usually lose everything but my boxers before going in, then rinse them out and go commando on the way home. 8-)

I've gone sinking with black or dark blue shorts to disguise the mud that doesn't wash out.

Cheers for the advice guys.
Its not so much that it stains, as its a pain to wash out. :D

Clothes that are 100% polyester, I've found don't stain at all. They look fine after one or two washes in the washing machine.

I've never had clothes get stained. I normally get back home and chuck them in the wash, mud and all. I did find a bit of (oh gawd i'm going to sound like one of those adverts) stubborn mud on the stitching of some jeans so I left them in when I did another wash. worked a treat. 40°c, 1600rpm with some kind of Persil liquid.
