Lex's topic for today: Supersonic strafing and why this is generally considered a bad idea

Yeah, but it lacks style. I like to compare the lines of my '77 Monte Carlo with an '82 model. They took all the curves out of it and just ruined it. Same thing with the appearance of a Tomcat and a Raptor. I wouldn't want to get in a dogfight with an F-22 but it will never be beautiful in the same manner an F-14 was. Always made me laugh that Tom Cruise thought he was the star of Top Gun. 8-)

Oh, now that's just not playing fair. That generation of G body was still four years shy of reaching its true form...

Back on topic though: The F-14 is a real piece. A real man's fighter jet. It's as timeless as they come.

Now here's an interesting concept: The Demon UAV. Flapless drone steered by air jets.

Nice :D
We need more flying stories, the almost-killed ones or similar are always the best too

There's a rumor going around that Tony Scott is making inroads in a sequel to Top Gun. Somehow it wont be the same without the Toms around, but who knows, if they do as least a good a job as the original....
*I think Lex is already shilling as technical advisor, being a former Hornet driver and all :D

Battle of Britain Music Video

Time for some old school stuff

That theme gets me every time, especially for the Spits

One of my favorite Spitfire videos.

I've got a few good flying stories. I've been lucky enough to fly in a couple different Air Force fighters and trainers, as well as a couple WWII-era birds, but all of my best flying stories happened in civil aircraft. My biggest regret is never getting to fly in an A-10, since there were no trainer versions. I'm sure I could have scored a ride if there had been.

Looks like a Mark IX there

Spitfire and Hurricane Tribute
Modern cameras here and some great air to air shooting. If you have never heard the sound of a Merlin for real, put it on your bucket list, awesome is the lo-end description of it :)

Spitfires
Fine collection of 5 assorted Marks in formation up close, nice
