Out at the farm one day I kept hearing machinery running in the distance but I couldn't put my finger on what it was. A little while later my wife called from the big red barn. When I got there I saw what I had been hearing for so long. There is a small silo for horse feed that holds two tons of the stuff. While much smaller than the rig in the pictures its basically the same thing. One of the stupid horses had busted the unguarded switch, turned on the feed line, and emptied an almost full silo of horse feed onto the ground. I had to shovel something like 1500 kg of feed into barrels and carry it to the barn. I doubt it takes you very long at all to move such a piddling amount. Oh, and yeah, it's dusty.

Nessie, if I had a complete stormie helmet and armour with full air filtration, I would have worn it . The level of dust and particles from chaff has to be seen to be believed. Will post another view when on shipnet, but at least its healthy in theory

From what I hear, most of it is already in the shed -- no compaints about dust amazingly, but I guess there isnt much across the river but industrial park areas.

I try not to think of oatmeal crisp when doing these things Nessie

Dunc, our unload rate was around 1800 tons per hour, so thats lessee, 180 tons in 6 min, or 30 ton per min, or 1000kg per sec -- about 60 % max rate since this stuff is so bulky just completely fills the belts

Back to loading good old rocks, its less of a pain in the backside now

40mm concrete stone for Windsor, then back up for another mixed load of sand/stone for Sarnia. After that, being another weekend coming up, expect change of orders

Will try and keep new stuff coming, but with the spring being so wet , freezing cold, and gales of wind, its hard to find photogenic subjects
