Speaking of dying things, I had 13 trees on my property when I moved here, with 1 of them being dead. Now I have 3 pine trees that have died as well. Gonna have a nasty bill with a tree service if I ain't careful...

Wow! Unlike any previous year, the roads got cleaned off really well. I took my wife to her job yesterday, and the little Kia we have turned out to be quite sure-footed in the snow. (not so much on the ice or slush, but we went without the chains) Between the wind and the slick stuff, there were a ton of accidents Sunday night & Monday. She drove herself today and said all the roads were clear.

I did just hear from a distant relation that we're supposed to get 2 FEET of snow the middle of next week. (I'll believe that when I see it, but I hope it doesn't happen)

Apparently snow isn't the only thing falling from the sky in your neck of the woods. I heard that birds, especially redwinged blackbirds, were dropping like flies for some unknown reason!

I read about that too!

Every spring, the call of the red-winged blackbird means that mud for me isn't far behind. Not good news to me as I love those birds!

Here in BC, we had some colder weather move in briefly, but now warmer air is moving in from the Pacific, and is starting to bring quite a dump of snow, including on the coast, which will turn to rain on the coast, and even eventually turn to rain here in the Okanagan as well. It is currently -7˚C, or 19.4˚ F as of midnight, but within a couple of days we could have temperatures around 6˚C, or 42.8˚F. On Vancouver Island, the ski hill at Mount Washington has the deepest snow base of all the ski hills in the world! People had to dig tunnels to their front doors!

With all the snow that has fallen in Europe and Asia, the biblical floods in Australia (flash floods described as an "inland tsunami"), the snow in the southern US, other floods elsewhere, etc, this is turning out to be one mean La Nina winter (or summer, for those in the southern hemisphere)!
