Would you believe? Just because I have difficulty with the 'Idiocy Factor' — and this is on my mind:

Can this get any weirder?
Oh yes, little voice, it can always get weirder.

This is disgusting, just utter disgusting. It's just typical for those religious nut jobs to protests anyone who they see as "Evil".

Unfortunately, it will take time... but we will see who burns in hell and who doesn't.

They certainly illustrate the saying that some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...

Something so often forgotten. Rather than silence any one group I would rather give voice to all.
Yes the Westboro Baptist clan are egregious media attention whores but I feel the same way about others with more mainstream beliefs.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Although I'm strongly in favor of keeping free speech free, geesh, there should be some speech that remains restricted voluntarily, with no laws in place to stop it, simply because we are decent human beings.
A bit of Googling reveals that these are the same crazies who go around disrupting the funerals of soldiers. It wasn't that long ago that I found myself at the funeral of an ex-Marine who served in Korea. Thankfully, it went off without a hitch. These people didn't know a thing about it.
I'm sure we'll end up with a law blocking these protests eventually. And I got to admit, when I read things like this, I can't say I'd do a whole lot to stop it from passing.

No you won't have a law to stop this. The Supreme Court of the United States recently ruled 8-1 that these strange people had a right to free speech like anyone else. It's the same right that allows us to do what we do here regardless if others find it objectionable. They are very few in number, about 50, so there is at least some chance they will all die in the same bus crash.

These people have a good deal in common with internet flamers and with, frankly, some flashers. They get a charge out of the attention they get for doing something outrageous. Therefore, in my humble opinion, the proper counter tactic is to ignore them or perhaps gently laugh at them. It would be my prediction that if everyone did that to them, and did so as if they were not even really aware of their presence, they would self destruct is fairly short order. I remember when I was an undergraduate, in the very early 70s, our classes were being interrupted by bomb scares every few hours. Eventually, the university simply posted notices on buildings that a threat had been made and no one would be penalized if they did not attend class that day. Most everyone went to class, and the threats stopped almost immediately.

Best example and solution I've heard thus far.
