Camera-Baby Finally Produces

Postby Nessie » Sat Apr 23, 2011 12:24 am

Test footage from Sir Tripod III at the very freshly thawed and watery cattail bed at Windy Lake. There's a stumble where I break through the mattress. You can't really see the mud, but it's under there.

And that's what it's like this time of year!

I guess I should be very careful when posting after my day job. It clubs brain cells which don't revive 'til morning.

I like it! :D From an artistic point of view, your clothing and waders contrasts nicely with the yellowish grasses and dark water. A still could be a painting! :)

Well, it didn't go so good today. The second visit to "Deer Leg Pond" found me unable to shake private property. It's a cool little untouched "open space" place but here and there, houses with yards bite into it and there wasn't enough foliage grown to hide anything.

No mud today.

I'm going to spend some of the evening running some tests on Camera-Baby...er, Sir Tripod III.

Can you tell that I'm really a fan of simplicity? Sir Tripods I and II were little Aipteks -- point, shoot, plug and play. This is a Canon HD thing and it has way too many bells and whistles, needs a special converter for its files and now that it's back from the repair place (actually, the store opted to exchange it)...

The mike and headphones STILL don't work...ya know, two of these can't be busted in exactly the same way so I'm betting that what it really is...is...

I am probably ignorant and need to study the manual!

I guess I could plug the mike into the Aiptek and graft the sound in if I just never manage to get it.

Happy Easter, everybody!

I actually thought that vid was pretty hot and a real tease. You kept "almost" sinking at that one spot, and finally when you had walked across it too many times, it tried to swallow you. That was great, especially since I know exactly how that feels. 8-)

I'm pleased although kind of surprised since I guess I'm not a big fan of my wader-vids although they are great comfort-wise. I can assure you that although I was surprised when I broke through the cattail mat (no, really was not expecting that), I do know that it is not deep there since I crawled all over all of that last year. There is no way I would bounce around on anything this time of year without knowing EXACTLY where the bottom is.

I figured out how to turn of "stabilization" since then and tests I shot yesterday (no mud, just some zooming and panning) have many fewer artifacts. But perhaps this has some value as a wetlook video. If nothing else, I don't think it's been done much...wader-wearing women bouncing on top of and through cattail mats getting the neoprene soaked in a lake where there is still a layer of ice on top.

That ice part isn't in that clip. And I guess it won't be on YouTube, for I have now discovered exactly how llllllllloooooonnnnnnggggggg it takes to upload HD video! I did zoom in on the ice, though...20X optical.
