Tryinging making quicksand and tryout next saterday

Postby Scarol » Wed May 04, 2011 11:40 am

Hi all,

Next saterday my parents are going far away, so I can test someting, i'm going try to create quicksand with a giant plastic bag and potting soil like this;
Potting Soil.jpg

How do I make quicksand, do I have to put the plastic bag full with water at the bottom and then put the potting soil in it or first put the potting soil and then water, or both at thesame time (mix)
Anyone who can help me?

I would go with peat if I were you.

Use a plastic liner.

I hope you have a water heater or it's going to be .... cold.

Okay, thanks for the tips everyone, I'm glad I don't going to use potting soil :lol:
Another question. when I'm going to put the peat in the liners to make the quicksand do i have to put the peat first and then the water or first the water and then the peat or mixing, or do i have to use a hose on the bottom of the peat? And if I want to let myelf sinking very slowly and let the peat bubbling depends that how much water/peat I use?

If you have heated water put the water in first. It will be that much warmer when you go in. The peat will absorb a lot of water but depending on how deep and wide you make it will determine how well the peat will be able to move. I would fill it halfway then add as much peat as it takes to fill the hole then add more hot water to make it as thick or loose as you want. Trial and error will be your guide. Once you fill it and want to add more water always try to push the hose to the bottom.

No that can't, that weekend i'm going to my older brothers house from friday evening to sunday afternoon, and my parent are going to a family birthday from 2 pm till 9 pm on saterday.
So that won't be a problem ;)
And my older brother also knows my fetish :)

When I'm in the plastic liner I can fall forward so I have to put heavy objects on sides and front side.if I can't stand maybe I have to try to let myself sit in the liner. I don't hope the plastic liner will split or burst, but if I take the steps from Robert carefully nothing can go wrong.

Let me introduce you to Mr.Murphy.

Just be careful and perhaps have your brother on hand until you gain some experience.
