I tihnk there are several interesting aspects to this:
- the suspense of dangling high above the quicksand with the potential to instantly sink deep or right under (with or without actually falling down)
- the thrill and fun factor (similar to jumping into water)
- the added pressure of having to react quickly when someone plunges in like this

Consider the following scene:
Two explorers (E1 and E2) are being chased through a jungle by a group of unfriendly natives. Somehow they get separated. When they meet again, E1 is on a ledge high above a bog and E2 is down by its edge.
E2: "Hurry! Jump!"
E1: "No, it's too high. I..."
E2: "Jump into the bog, it will break your fall."
E1: "What?! No!"
E2: "I will you throw the rope. Just do it! There's no time."
E1 leaps down, lands at the mire's center and goes under instantly. Only her muddy hands come back above the surface.
E2: "Oh, crap."
Hurriedly E2 secures one end of the rope at a nearby tree. Then holding onto the other end she jumps in herself to rescue E1. ...

I must admit, it is one of my most favorite fantasies. However, since I am a "stuck fan", not a "sinking fan", I imagine a girl jumping off a cliff or a log expecting that she will just land on a solid beach/sand/ground - but surprisingly she ends up totally stuck chest deep (or even better, to her armpits in the thick stuff). Could work well if the potential victim is a jungle explorer, medieval warrior in heavy armor, modern mercenary in high tightly strapped boots, a hiker (alone or with friends), a nude girl who believes that she found a perfect place to take a skinny dip in a forest lake... Endless possibilities!

And here are two videos from Russia. Unfortunately, it is guys jumping in the nice mud there. (But look - there are one rather awkward girl on the background losing her battle with the mud ;) )

I'm pretty sure these videos were posted here previously.

I need to pay more attention to the "Drawings" forum. As usual Billy you have illustrated very well what my imagination was seeing and added a twist I hadn't considered. Beautiful. 8-)
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Thank you Duncan! I promised to draw a follow-up for that picture, but until now I only have two sketches. It goes without saying that the follow-up shows how the other two girls are falling into the same quicksand, one of them head first.

In the context of a sinking scene, whether filmed or fantasy falling into the quicksand also adds a plausible reason why the damsel in distress cannot simply walk out again. I had never really thought about it before, but it can make a scenario that much more believable.

I like quicksand that sits in some kind of depression or pit that is hard to clamber out of. For some reason, victims falling into such an inescapable trap = super hot!

I remember a scene in the movie "Wild Wild West", where Will Smith and another guy are running through a cornfield, trying to evade flying circular saw blades which are attracted to metal (magnetic?) collars around their necks. They both run towards a gulley from both sides, and leap towards each other, fall into the gulley (the blades smash together other above them and get destroyed) and land up to their necks in liquid mud, at which point the other guy sneezes, splattering Will Smith's face with mud. They eventually walk out of the gulley. A rather interesting scene. :)

If I imagine a woman falling into quicksand, the scenario is that she comes across a woman already caught, and climbs out on to a tree limb over the trapped woman, intending to lower a branch to her and pull her out. But she ends up falling in herself, her legs going in deep. She grabs the hands of the first woman, keeping her from going under. Eventually both are saved by someone else. I always have them getting rescued.

The peril of quicksand is increased greatly by having first one woman caught, then her would-be rescuer falling victim to the swamp, too; now both are in a desperate situation.

I have a little fantasy where the Lady falls from a reasonable height- short cliff, tall tree, etc. She is expecting to be badly hurt when she hits the ground, but "luckily" the ground is very, very soft.

i kinda miss the 'running into quicksand' that used to happen in films? i dont think ive seen any mpv or 588 films do that? even the tantalising baywatch clip ended with her STOPPING & taking a jump! no way! :x

people should run like they dont expect it like susan penhaligon in 'land that time forgot' - thats almost as good as falling in instead of just walking etc :?
sites n forums bout gals in quicksand cos guys luv chicks who are dirtee n wet!

;-D
