Anybody besides me ever get stuck?
So off I go yesterday to go off road with my boyfriend and some other friends, Now my Jeep is not exactly all stock, its stock height, but it has a pair of Detroit lockers front and rear, so I'm pretty safe wherever I want to go. But yesterday we all went to a friends place in Chesapeake who has a really big farm with lots of woods to romp through. so I pull the magic lever and poof my Jeep its transformed into a small monster
That is until I went through one pond that "looked" fine, 3" of water on top on dirt right? ......WRONG, All the guys smiled as me and Becky got out and went waist deep in mud
Ok where do guys put all that food they eat?

Hahaha.....awesome. I sank mine to the doorhandles in a coal quarry once. Pretty much the same thing happened to me the hole was a hell of a lot deeper then it looked. Had to get out through the roof, tried to jump for solid ground and went in up to my chest. Pulled myself out walked two miles to a gas station, scared the bejesus out of some girl pumping her gas (chick took one look at me and dove into her car and peeled out ot there lol). Walked into the gas station covered on coal slurry from head to toe and nonchalantly asked the guy behind the counter if I could use his phone to call a tow truck. Dude almost died of laughter.

Out home (rural western NY state) we have a saying: "Keep it in 2WD until you get stuck; then put it in 4WD and go home.
Only time I ever got stuck off-roading was with my RWD '81 Toyota Corolla 2 dr sedan. I bought it dirt-cheap, spent two years trying to break it and it sucked it up and begged for more. Had about 300K miles on it, too. Anyway, decided not to try to ford a creek, and backed on to some very smooth, round, washed stones turning around.
No big deal- just jacked up each rear wheel, filled in with flat rocks, and carried enough flat rocks to pave a path back to good footing. Half an hour tops.

And we here have a saying: "The more cool Jeep you have, the longer you'll have to walk to find a tractor". Yes, in our corner of the world "Jeep" means any ATV, and very often any SUV, too

Re: Anybody besides me ever get stuck?
I once sunk my '86 Lynx past the hood in muck while heading to one of my sinking spots ages back.
So stupid of me....
It was in late April and the ground was still sodden from the spring thaw, and down she went.
The worst part was having to negotiate with a cranky tow truck driver when I only had $10 to my name and he wouldn't take CAA... then explaining the muck all over the front and sides of the car before I washed it off.
Never repeated the mistake... at least with a car.
Years previous, I was working with a gold exploration company and my co-worker would take the ATVs we used to get out to the area we were working in for a spin after lunch. When he came walking back, I had a feeling this wasn't good. It wasn't. He had sunk the Yamaha Big Bear past the handlebars in black muck. Took us several hours to dig the damn thing out... while the birds laughed at us.
There's a story in that somewhere...
