Funny you mention green camo, in fact, i do look like this ukrainian cavegirl (regarding the clothes) when it comes to serious mudding.The waders i own, do also come as high as hers. I assume she wears the same nylon/goretex rainclothes than me...
I did turn the waders inside out, let them dry und brush the dry mud off. That should be clean enough....
I must admit, I have never used waders for sinking in the cooler months (a wetsuit, yes) and I would be concerned that they would be difficult to extract from the heavy tidal mud we have around here (it's bad enough when your wellies go under and get flooded when NOT trying to sink/get muddy)?
I completely agree about not using cotton clothing (don't wear jeans - I only did that once) and that synthetic clothes are far better.
Regards getting too muddy - yes, that has happened. From unexpectedly finding a deep spot when exploring in my "travelling" clothes, or not having places to clean up before travelling home (most of my sinking is done at night around here - far too many people about during the day). It's been so bad, that the next day I have seen the trial of mud I left back to the house!!
If there is no chance of a clean up (or it's too cold to jump in to a handy pond on the way home), then I have taken a second set of junk clothes to change in to. This also makes it more comfortable if hiking/cycling some distance. And yes, cleaning up a seriously muddy wetsuit is as much of a pain. Outside with the hose pipe, a large bucket and mild detergent - then several days of drying in the garage/turning inside-out.
