Ouch, mashed toes are the worst. Been there done that. If it really hurts duct tape it to the healthy one next to it, makes a great splint.
I'd have kept that $140 and used it as a down payment on the Exectutor (coming soon) but that's just me. :)

I feel your pain. :( On the evening of July 27'th, the day before our belated summer finally arrived, I smashed my baby toe on my right foot against a storage trunk in our basement, and while it wasn't broken, I am certain it was fractured, and the joint below that toe seemed to be a bit injured as well. The front of my foot swelled up, and the front edge of the swelling was blue and red (in part of my foot and toes that weren't injured) from blood pushed away from the injury by the fluids in the swelling (but the underside of the injured toe was blue or purple). In a few days, it will be a month, and it still hurts if I put too much pressure on it. If your toe is broken, it could take a few months (or longer) before you can use it without pain. You would have to take care of it for a while until it mends, since you wouldn't want to break it over again (walking barefoot in the outdoors could really be bad for it at this time, and I even had trouble walking through the meadows wearing boots with my fracture). Just make certain that the ends of the break are properly aligned, or it might have to be re-broken and reset. Taping it to an adjacent toe is the common way of splinting it. Toe breaks (or at least the pain associated with it) seem to heal at different rates for different people, and depending on how much the foot is used. I hope your recovery will be a faster rate.
