Hi,

I, personally, like the slow, gradual sink, and have tried to do that in many of my videos. But, it is very hard on the models, especially using a natural setting, which is why it looks forced at some points. Also, the final submergence is also very hard for the models/actresses to accomplish in a gradual fashion - issues like making sure the mud/clay does not go up the nose, in the mouth, into ears, etc. Also making sure that they take in enough breath to hold while under. Etc.

So, I will continue to try for that slow, gradual sink all the way, but reality says I will not succeed all the time.

Well, for what it's worth I think you're doing OK so far with your efforts.

There is actually no need for a solid object like this, at least in a clay pit. Because the clay tends to be naturally thicker at the bottom, all the actress needs to do is dig her feet into that. because its not a solid object it does not hurt. On many occasions by using this technique we have achieved the so-called "holy grail" of the vertical, two-hands in the air submergence. We have even achieved quite a few submergences with the actress's arms tied to an overhead rope.

I'm looking over some videos now, and I'm seeing what you mean. I suppose there's a couple where you can see the sinker pushing their arms up, but it's in loose peat. Otherwise, nevermind!

If I go down vertically, the nose survives fairly well, just as it would in water.

I mostly don't bother with ears. I could wear earplugs but I just yank the stuff out later.

I try to wipe my eyes with a paper towel immediately but I guess, so far, that is not perfect...although I haven't gone blind from peaty eyeballs. Actually, at Poison Sumac Bog, I do not even always feel it on my eyeball. I once caught a glob on the whites of my eyes in a ladies' rest room at a gas station on the way home.

With my only model, I made sure that I had a cushy paper towel nearby and that she wiped her eyelids immediately after emergence. I always figure that whatever I do for myself, I need to do twice as well for somebody else.

Something very lightweight and small to carry is a one gallon spray container. You can find them easily at Menards or Farm & Feet.

"Blast from the Past" is how it was released on DVD. And, yes, I'm one of the handful of people who actually received the DVD.
