Charlie Update for Nessie and Our Crowd

He has been with you for a long time now...and with every picture you post, he looks steadily more contented. I have always loved all animals and think Charlie is fortunate that you have become his "Daddy".

I've had a few different kinds of pets, and did find that my dogs were the most expressive. You look into their faces and you can read their moods immediately. I suspect that my rat is pretty smart. If I set him down, and hold my hands out toward him, he knows he's being "called". He's also responded to being called verbally and he likes to be petted and held. He definitely recognizes "Mama".

Dogs must have extra face muscles, though. Looking at Charlie's face, I see a serene happiness. He looks comfortable and he appears to have a Mona-Lisa kind of smile. A rat's face is always the same, except when they yawn...which is funny.

Charlie is a dog of routines. Every morning, at about 6:45, he wakes up, walks down to the edge of the bed and SITS UP to tell me I HAVE TO GO OUT NOW. When I do wake up, I can then carry him to my pillow. Or now he runs there, lays down to PREVENT ME from returning there. I can cover him over, and in about 5 minutes after coffee and walking prep, he and Penny (schnoodle) come downstairs. At night, he likes to rest in his old dog crate which we call his MAN CAVE.

Charlie is a dog of routines. Every morning, at about 6:45, he wakes up, walks down to the edge of the bed and SITS UP to tell me I HAVE TO GO OUT NOW.

There's nothing like waking up out of a dead, heavy sleep to a dog that's wide awake, sitting up, and staring at you with THE LOOK.

"Mommeeeee...."

If I didn't move, she would give a double whine and jump up and down, shaking the bed.

She couldn't be fooled. Laying in bed with my eyes closed didn't get me off the hook. She knew I wasn't asleep.

Whine-whine. Jump.

My dachschund had a little blue crate. I used it mostly for road trips as she had a tendency to jump into my lap when I drove. I don't have it any more, though. The neighbors who used to take care of my little wienie-beanie got that about three months ago.

They got a puppy. It's a female miniature dachschund...she looks just like my dog, rest her furry soul, so I figured that was a good place for the crate.

We had Tiger the alarm cat when I was a kid. Every morning at 5:30 she was looking in Mom and Dad's bedroom window howling to be let in for breakfast.

When my Wienie-Beanie was a puppy and still living with her original mommy, I flew down there for a family visit...now you ain't lived until somebody with a weird sense of humor tosses a miniature dachschund puppy right on your bed to wake you up.
