Didn't there used to be a legal number of guns on a private ship depending on size? A twenty-mike-mike would make a better argument with pirates than an AR-15.

20mm Oerlikons are harder to come by, and not everyone can handle one. Plus, they are a crew served weapon. But just about anyone can handle an M-4 and its variants, and ammo is cheap. And it will kill you just as dead as 20mm API, just not as messily.

Most assuredly! From what I've seen the ammo for the AR-15/M-16 (5.56mm) is very inexpensive in most places of the world. And it's easy to find. AK-47 rounds (7.62 mm) are also cheap, but the accuracy of those rifles are not up to the standards of the British and American made rifles.

I do have to give credit to the men that defended the ship. Standing up for justice sometimes requires more than mere words!

5.56 ammo is definitely cheap. Just bought 2000 rounds of XM855 Penetrator for $700 not too long ago, me, my cousin and my uncle all have AR's now so we go through it quick. Nothing like blowing holes in half inch steel plate for 35 cents per trigger pull haha...

With the end coming to long-gun registry here now, it's almost worth getting one :D

If you're serious, I'll offer a few pieces of advice
1. A3 type upper and a low profile gas block will give you the most options for mounting optics, sights, etc.
2. Once you choose a make, buy the base model and do your own gunsmithing. With one or two specialized tools that can be had for $50 it's not that hard.
3. Magpul. 'nuff said. 8-)

Sorry for being late to the party...

Nice footage, Kham!

Perhaps the only thing the ship in the first video did wrong was let those pirates get too close. Put a few rounds across their bow a bit further out then let them have it before they get in too close and below your view of fire.

And, that Russian destroyer gave that pirate more than enough warning shots before opening up with the Gatling gun. Score an impressive hit on the first burst of fire.

Of course, here's probably the last thing those pirates would want to see... Kristine Lynn with an AR-15 chambered for a .50 caliber Beowulf...

Thanks for sharing, Kham!

The Dutch seem to be on the right track here...

Not to mention, for 200 mil more, you'd get one of those or something like it, instead of a 57mm mobile gun system....
