Youtube - "One Life to Live" Scene
This scene is in Crypto's list but hasn't been available for years. Here it is courtesy of a serious soap opera fan - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a57O0AlsHJ4
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

surprisingly an excellent scene. Never seen it before. Watching scenes for the first time are always a treat. And it was really well done. Kudos for the find.

Hi Duncan
Like me, were you watching this guy hour by hour for the scene coming up? What an exciting three days. One of the Holy Grails?
Seriously, this is really a great scene, very good example of what can be done in the control of a studio. Nice girl and slow descent, perfect setting, they finally got everything right.

That's exactly right. I periodically search on "quicksand" in Youtube and came across this series. It didn't take long to realize that there were others watching as well. Last night just as I was about to go to bed I checked one more time and there it was. There's another out there from "The Guiding Light" that I'm still chasing. I'll cover that in another post.

That one really shakes my confidence in the 'good old vine' method of escape....
Is it just me or did they change the pit from scene to sceen? I'll leave that one to the experts....

It did look like the pit got wetter as the scene went on, but that might happen in real life as the sand is disturbed and becomes more quick. Really fantastic scene - I had no idea this one even existed. They stuck to the slow sink method the whole way through.

They did the split pit sink. the shallow end for the run in, and the deeper end to accommodate the "I don't wanna die" part of the scene. Not so common practice, but the Shelby Woo scene was done that way.
How unfortunate you didn't have a proper guide to navigate these swamps.

I caught that too. Just looking at her after she came out, and knowing that soap operas seem to prefer food ingredients, I think it was oatmeal or something similar that was sticking to her as they tried to pull her out.
