Lance Armstrong stripped of Tour titles, lifetime ban

Good, cheaters should never keep titles like that.

I actually had a friend who thought he should keep all his stuff because of his charity work.

Remember Pete Rose? Marvelous baseball player, beat Ty Cobb's batting record. His mistake of gambling ruined everything! I'm sorry about what happened to Lance, but these athletes have to be accountable for what they do on and off the field. Quote from Spiderman: "HAVING SUPERPOWERS REQUIRE HAVING SUPER RESPONSIBILITES!!"
Tarzan to Jill Hardy: Girl be still. Not sink!!"
From "Valley Of Mystery" : Don't struggle and do not thrash around; that just makes things worse!

I'd have more respect for him if he'd just own up and admit his transgressions.

I really don't get it.....The guy has passed HUNDREDS of drug tests. How can they keep going after him like this?

Wear him down over time, while all the time assuming that he HAD TO HAVE TAKEN something because cancer survivors tend not to bounce back like that, and not letting go of it. He just finally gave up fighting the fight so he can move on to other things that he's trying to get done.

This does not preclude that he may have juiced (like any sport, I view the idea that it's a "meritocracy" with a very jaundiced eye because of the sheer amount of money involved), but the evidence was not there (As I recall, a key blood sample, they no longer had enough of to make a definitive test with, and that was over 5 years ago), and sometimes people do quite literally beat the odds in their recovery and come back stronger than before.

Do they have a right to judge him even without solid evidence? Sure, it's not a criminal proceeding, just a sport, a private organization, and they can decide who they no longer want to associate with in any manner they see fit. Should they have? HELLS NO. There wasn't any due process, just an effort to make him give in to their demands that he was not a legitimate winner. And second place isn't going to be all happy now that his placement has been converted to a win years after the fact.

This really is a case, were nobody really wins and somehow everybody loses something in the process including the sport of cycling.
