Seagate Hard Drive vs 12 guage Slug

Postby dlodoski » Sat Sep 08, 2012 7:17 pm

I know some of you are going to snicker when I say this, but I honestly thought it was going to be a big dent with the slug inside of it.

<Jack O'Neill Voice> Are you...kidding??

You can burn down a moose with a 12-guage slug. Overpenetration looks about right

<snicker...>

You realize the limit in your county is three a day after Nov. 17 unless it has antlers.

It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

You win for the O'Neill reference.

Nice. What kind of slugs? I've got some 3 1/2" Breneke's that supposedly will punch holes in an engine block. Tried them on a 3/16" steel plate and they worked on that haha.....

If I said exactly where I got it, I could get in trouble. Let's just say that it was rolling around in the trunk of a car I was working on back in the mid-nineties. (Yes, it has been sitting on or in or near my desk (at three homes) ever since).

I have a box of new slugs ready to go as well. Maybe the age of the shell gave it some extra oomph?

<edit> from the casing - Winchester Super X 1 oz. 2 3/4" Probably pretty ordinary.

Yea sounds like just a standard Winchester slug. I'm amazed by how clean the hole is. I'm not surprised it penetrated but I would expect it to mangle it more on the way through.
