I wouldn't go back there. That guy probably owns that quarry and turned off the water station as a warning. I'm thinking if you go back and he catches you there again, he probably will call the police.

Sounds like a guy who was just stopping by to turn off the water (maybe they left it on Friday by accident and somebody remembered) in other words, that guy probably does not give a crap about you being there.

It truly does sound like the guy had an indifference over you being in there at all, let alone being in there with mud up to your chest. It's nice to think that he's cool about it, but at the same time it's alarming, since work sites present other situations that can be dangerous when people sneak in, unattended. Not all quarries are safe for swimming/playing in, either. He could be held accountable one day for someone playing around, with say, a piece of equipment and getting seriously hurt. Obviously, you're there for that creamy slime and ooze pit, and you're experienced with that, so you won't be a statistic. ;)

I wouldn't blame anyone else though for saying that a subtle warning could have been given. However, I maintain that the guy would have been a whole lot more explicit if it were a problem for you to be there.

You should share more detail about how it felt being in that quarry mud. Did it really grip you when you sank, to the point of tightly creating a contour of your body?

Whew, that was an exciting story to read, although I can imagine how you felt at the time! I frequently visit a quarry nearby for the best mud ever, and I've really only had one "scare". I was in perfectly slimy, creamy, decently thick mud up to my chest wearing nothing but my underwear (tighty whities, hah), when I suddenly heard a truck in the distance, and looked up and saw a guy get out and walk to a nearby shed. It was pretty far away, so there's no way he saw me, but it freaked me out that someone was actually there. The quarry I go to has a couple entries, none of which are locked. I go when I know they are shut down, but they must have been doing maintenance. Can't imagine how my heart rate would have jumped if I had been totally naked, covered in mud, when a truck approached me! Normally I wear just my underwear to get muddy, but sometimes I go totally naked, too, so I could see myself in a similar situation. Whew.

Side note, YES, quarry mud is. the. best. I've found perfect, slimy mud, no rocks, up to my ears, and not felt the bottom. It's like an adult playground!

One concern is that while the guy turning off the water appeared to shrug off your trespassing there to play in the mud, the people he tells at work might take it more seriously, possibly step up security, and you might not get off so easily if caught next time. :(
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

Closest call I had was about 10 years ago while sinking in my favorite spot in the "all together." I was up to my shoulders in heavy, sticky muck (sigh...) when I suddenly spotted the bright orange hat gliding across the tops of the high grasses which shielded me, barely two feet away! I heard low voices... two outdoorsmen in a boat who were using the nearby creek to move from one small lake to the other.... and no means to escape quickly.

I swear, I thought my heart was pounding hard enough for them to hear... and if they had stopped and stood up to get their bearings, I would have been seen for certain... naked and stuck and shit out of luck. I thought briefly about submerging, but the hat and the voices just slowly glided away... After a few eternities passed, I slowly worked my way out of the muck, which slurped and farted big time as I struggled to extricate myself, trying to stay quiet. Once free, I peeked up slowly like a prairie dog and didn't see any sign of the gents. Thanking the Goddess of Bogs, or whatever earth spirit is in charge of such things, I took my leave as quickly and quietly as I could.

It's a good thing I was quiet in my sinking this time... I'm usually role playing aloud .... mostly about topless jungle queens watching me sink to my doom while enjoying the sight, until Sheena or someone decides to push me under with her foot. My improv gets a little salty at times, so I'm really glad I was in silent mode this time around... it would have been hard enough to explain being there in the first place.... ;) .

I play it safe. But thinking back to what I used to do as a kid shocks me now.

They've built over it now but there was a mud pit beside my school. I used to go sinking in it frequently even so much as leaving a pair of jogging clothes nearby. I used to go in every other day. But it's beside a frikkin school just metres into a little forest right next to it! Nobody ever found the clothes. They probably did eventually way after I stopped visiting.

Now I'm so cautious. I only go if there is nobody else around. at. all. The nearest people are usually 3-4 miles away and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Hahaha......nice escape.
I think our fear of getting caught borders on the irrational sometimes. The vast majority of people on earth do not think "sexual fetish" when they encounter somebody covered with or in mud. Hell even a lot of us don't.
FYI, if you can get your nerve back up I've found that the best time to visit a quarry is on Sunday during the dinner hour. Unless the operation is 24/7 nobody will be at work and anyone looking to use the area for recreation will have gone home for supper. I certainly wouldn't write the place off, the fact that the guy didn't go nuts and call the cops means that he probably doesn't give a fuck you're there!!!!

Interesting point. Perhaps the "why" may be quite far out of the imagination of the unexpected observer.

I've been caught twice, including once about 20 years ago while cleaning up in some water wearing just shorts where no one in their right mind would have been swimming. I emerged and walked past a woman with her dog while I put on my shirt. I got a raised eyebrow, but that's all.

Another time a few years before that I'd found just about the deepest, softest patch of muck I'd ever felt, deeper than my navel. I was aware that I was in open view, but I hadn't seen anyone around. While I was sunk waist deep two people noticed me and were pointing. I decided to get out and move on before someone called the fire department.
