Saiga .223-to buy or not to buy?

Low and to the right at the moment- need to zero in the sights. But it is a nice little rifle. Have to learn not to rush my shots with the semiauto. Tends to eject severely dented brass a ridiculous distance, though- not a weapon for a reloader.

So how's it shoot?

The dented brass is normal for an AK style action--my little bro's WASR even puts dents in the steel cased 7.62 he buys. .223 is so cheap and reloading is so time intensive I never bother with it anyway.

Do you have that little C-clamp tool to adjust the front sight windage? Does the Saiga come with that AK butt-stock cleaning kit with the elevation adjusting tool? Neither is "nessessary" or required but helpful. I think every gun manufacturer out there does not zero their gun, so no worries. Use a laser and you can zero it in the house with out firing a shot as well as a scope when you get one.

Yep, got the kit and the owner's manual. Have to look into buying a laser.

If you get a zeroing laser, get the type that you insert at the muzzle. You will be able to use it on just about any firearm after that.

There are different types of Saigas available, most look like a traditional firearm, some are being built as an AK variant with better fit and finish quality. I saw a pic of a Finish Valmet (an other Kalashnikov variant) that had a rubber/plastic brass deflector mounted on the top cover above the bolt operating handle. Nice little thing. I'll see about getting more info.
