Up until the last few years, the age of consent here in Canada was 14.... it has been since boosted by federal government legislation to 16.

BTW, we can drive at 16, vote at 18 and in Ontario drink at 19. Yeah, that makes no sense to me, either....

This is a weird situation. I hope everyone involved settles down.

The way you have presented it, everybody is getting mad about a non-event. You should realize that many adults are basically grown children that over-react to the littlest thing. Also doing things like this with your cousin will raise eyebrows even with calm, rational individuals. With this in mind, I am not sure why you told your mother about your mutual sinking interest in the first place.
