I'm into exploring all types of colors and textures regarding quicksand. Because the reality is that what we think of mire does in fact take all kinds of forms in real life - as well as in the popular imagination supplied by TV and Movies.
I'm not a fan of tar or concrete, because it's pretty much impossible (for me) to suspend the reality that both of these materials are toxic and could kill or maim people just from exposure.
I suppose a hybrid possibility of a sticky tar-like substance is feasible, but I'll save stuff like that for when I eventually start shooting indoors.

Re: Something else than mud?
I'm a big fan of scenes that involve sinking into any sort of goo/slime/ooze. Indeed if it some kind of mysterious sci-fi ooze then it can have extra unusual properties like being sticky like glue, or being "alive" and actively swallowing someone up, or having some kinky aphrodisiac effect. Also I think it looks very striking to have someone sinking in some bright green slime rather than the usual brown/black mud or yellow sand. Acidtester' did some artwork that featured bright green slime, looked great.
We all know that you are unlikely to completely sink in real quicksand or mud; scenes with watery stuff should end with the actress swimming out, while scenes with thicky sticky stuff should end with them being completely stuck and immobile when about waist-deep. But of course what we want to see is the fictional version that causes someone to get stuck and yet they keep going down. If it's some unusual substance rather than a natural quagmire then you can throw reality out the window and give it whatever properties would make an interesting scene.

Personally, I do like substances other than just mud/quicksand. I've been toying with the idea of a big vat of marshmallow fluff, with a very slow sink all the way under. I've actually got a half dozen models who want to do this, including Dixie Comet who actually suggested the idea. Who knows - maybe over the winter, when most of my shooting is indoors.
The other aspect of using substances other than mud/quicksand is the coloring - I like seeing colors other than brown and gray next to the models skin/attire, etc.

This idea has my thumbs up and wholehearted support.

Or have a spider trap a women in a cocoon.
I know it isnt sinking, but I'm a fan of this stuff too.
But also, a big yes on alternate sinking substances. It's too bad real tar and such can be so problematic.

Well, we have a lot of fans and three producers who are not against the idea. Fred of Studio588 responded on Quicksandland launching a discussion on the various possible substances. For this part, he excluded all food and substances that have a short life outside was that all of her scenes are. Of course, he also excluded anything that may be toxic to actresses.
Personally, when I see a girl sinking in tar, for example, I just see the sinking and not the toxicity. This kind of thing I'm not interested, it's just the sinking in something. That doesn't mean that I don't care, of course I would never want an actress sinking in something toxic (or anyone else).
When I put "tar" in the topic, it was to say "something that resembles". Moreover, I find that the printer ink in Star Trek gives an interesting effect for it. What do you think?
Besides, I propose that we use this topic to propose ideas of substances. See a little of what we would like to see, the different possibilities, feasibility or impossibility, discuss what we imagine as sinking in other substances.
I am actually quite agree with that quagmire_uk said, I agree and I particularly like the idea of an aphrodisiac substance.
For me, making scenes in other substances opens the doors to imagination.

Why not?
There isn't a lot of scenes with it.
