As most of you know, I am a Boston native - born and grew up there and regularly visit the city. I got a call from my wife shortly after the explosions occurred, saying one of our daughters was downtown at the marathon - luckily, she is safe and unharmed, but was close to the scene of tragedy. My sister-in-law, neice and nephew were also close by.

Most of us are on edge, particularly as we travel public transportation and move about the city (I have to go in at least twice a week to the city proper and I take the subway through the city every day to work - our transit stations now have National Guard and other military personnel inside, and there are regular announcements for us to be fully aware of suspicious packages, backpacks, etc.). What is heartening is the courage and resolve of the folks here - those who rushed in to help as the bombs went off, and those of us who refuse to change our habits because of this terror. I am also amazed at the outpouring of support from all over this country, and from the greater world.

CNN is now reporting that an arrest has been made.

If they will lay him down at the start line of the next major running event in this country, the Country Music Marathon on the 27th, I bet I can get 35,000 people to stomp on him at least once. I'd make two laps myself just for good measure.

EDIT - 30 minutes later and they don't even have an actual suspect. What was I thinking? Maybe they'll get it right when he's executed.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

They've been delaying a news conference all afternoon according to the major news networks. They have a face sooner or later they'll put a name to it. Black powder in a pressure cooker tells me this idiot was no OBL.

The "idiot(s)" put together and detonated two very effective bombs, however crude they might have been. Complexity is often the enemy of any device or plan. Mission accomplished, sadly.

Live stream from a police scanner. They just found the last guy hiding in a boat in a shed. Shots fired they're sending in dogs to make sure he's dead.

He's not dead....yet. Wounded though. Hope the fucker is gut shot.

Sorry for not coming back to this thread, computer crashed early in the week.

He's apparently in the hospital, and the FBI is invoking 'public safety clause' and he has not been read Miranda rights.
