Esther Williams - Age 91

Postby Duncan Edwards » Thu Jun 06, 2013 1:17 pm

I was crazy about this lady from a very early age. Probably no coincidence that I married a brunette that was big into swimming and diving. As well as being a great lady she was the Saint Mary and Queen Mother Empress of a peripheral fetish interest of mine and for many others.

Esther Williams. Now there's a blast from the past. Another name from the Golden Age of Hollywood. I wonder how many young women were inspired to become competitive swimmers to learn water ballet because of her.

It's too bad Sports Illustrated didn't have its swim suit issue back when she was going her thing. I'll bet she would've blown all those pretty gals from today right out of the water, literally and figuratively.

Swimsuit Edition? Crap, she had twenty entire movies of "Swimsuit Edition" :) She practically invented synchronized swimming and was the first Olympic commentator on it for the 1984 Olympics in L.A. Her first swimming partner for the sort of truncated World's Fair in 1940 San Francisco was Tarzan himself, Johnny Weissmuller. I was always disappointed she never played "Jane" in a jungle flick. No stunt double required for her. She would have gone on to win several gold medals if the Olympics hadn't been canceled due to the outbreak of WWII. There really won't ever be another one like her. 8-)

She's about as close to a mermaid as one can go... and another true original...

Pity she wasn't Jane to JW's Tarzan... be cool to see who could outswim who... ;)
