Happy Father's Day!

Postby nachtjaeger » Sun Jun 16, 2013 10:39 am

Happy Father's Day to all the dads on the board, to all those who have filled that role in a child's life, and to all the single moms (who have to be both mom and dad.)

My dad died 17 years ago, and I still miss him.

I 'filled in' for someone. It has been sublimely rewarding, as many dads out there know. There just isn't any other feeling in the world that is quite like that.

Happy Fathers Day! :)

For those of you still open to the possibility of fatherhood I can't recommend it enough. I grew up with my dad, grandfathers, and great-grandpa so I've seen the string continue through the generations. Hopefully I've been able to pass some of that institutional knowledge along to the next. At very least I've learned a lot from the one I'm supposed to be teaching. :D
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Thanks for mentioning the single mothers. My own father ran out on our family when I was young, so I really don't have any memories of him. My mom and older sister (who passed a couple of years ago), did a very good job of being both mother and father to me.
