Washington State Sinkers

I lived that and found several awesome sinking spots. There is the Mercer Island Nature area just under and North of I-90 near the I-450/I-90 interchange. Best all around sink spot with Lake Washington there to wash off in. I lived 5 miles from this spot at South Weller in Seattle, so I'd zip down there after work sometimes. Also there is some nice quicksand during the late summer at Elbe, WA just near the intersection of State Highway 706 and 7. I was out there with my ex girlfriend tromping around and the fire department and police showed up because they thought I was chasing this poor woman through the mud and causing all manner of mayhem and mischief. When they realized that we were together they almost exploded into a rage of fury and spouted out something like, "The tide could have killed you!!!" I just walked away to my truck after they were finished running my plates/license etc. Moral of the story, go there alone or with three people because all the passing cars can see you from the highway.

I live in Washington, and I'm curious as to the Mercer Island Nature Area place you're talking about. Where exactly is/was it, and how did you get to it? Also, about how private was it? Could any roads/houses see you?

Ace, it is really private and there are multiple areas for sinking. Coming from Seattle, heading East, Take the Bellvue Way SE exit if off of I-90, Turn right into the first right hand turn. If you make it to the traffic signal, you have gone too far. Turn around and make a left. Here is an address: 2336 Bellevue Way Southeast, Bellevue, Washington, United States. This should give you a good idea if you do a satellite/street view in google maps. Once you turn right just follow the road until you get to the parking spaces. You'll see a boat launch as you get out of your car and look around. You'll want to head to the trail the heads South towards the freeway and turn left to walk over the pedestrian bridge. When you reach the elevated wooden path just jump over the railing and walk under the freeway....very deep mud there. You can explore for days/weeks/months the entire nature area. It was formed when the the lake level dropped when the Lake union cut was created along with the locks near Ballard.

Yeah, I actually visited that spot a couple weeks ago after you made your first post talking about it, when I happened to be in that area. I looked around, found the bridge, walked alongside the freeway bridge, and figured the stuff you were talking about must be under the freeway. It's not incredibly private though, as anyone walking by on the pedestrian bridge would see you. Also where do you clean up?
