Fullbore Friday - Admiral Sandy Woodward

From CDR SAL A little behind, but real life does that to you at times. Admiral Woodward went west this week, after a long illness. A career submariner, he commanded the Task Force that took back the Falkland Islands from the Argentines in 1982. His book One Hundred Days (sadly not read, but in process of rectifying now) is a classic study of command and commanders, and how they influence a campaign.

Clear Skies, Admiral

Finished the Admiral's book. A good read for a look at the Falklands conflict from the POV of the Admiral running the show. Very different, its not often you see an Admiral critiquing himself in his own book. And not pulling punches either. Likewise for calling out the BBC and assorted media scumbags for, well, being scumbags in general, and in a shooting war in particular. Getting guys potentially killed just for your headline is something that tends to make people angry. To the point of wanting to KILL the assholes in question. This is not hyperbole when you are in the South Atlantic 8000 miles from nowhere; not even the sharks would hear you scream....
