Ya'll make valid points but look closely at what tw14 is really about. It's not technology or charges or anything more than getting something for free. It runs all through this posts right from the title. The rest is just a list of excuses to justify his getting what he wants by pretending there is something seriously flawed about the distribution system within our community. The same thing that makes the producers have to charge what they do is what also allows him to do this - It's a small market. If he goes to a major porn producer and says things are broken and they could do so much better they're never even going to hear him. In our little world he can make a good show on this board and get everyone in a tizzy about problems that aren't that big a deal or don't exist and try to force a change. It's been attempted here before and in the final analysis each time the imagined issues really aren't that big a deal. Great example of this entire discussion probably instigated by the same players about MPV but it applies to everyone else -

It's just making noise about imagined issues to cop freebies. Somebody seems to think this little community has a financial pipeline to the five billion dollar porn industry and that should make everything free.

There was one guy there that drove me nuts. He would comment like this="You have great ideas,but they don't look professional." "I'm dissapointed,that mud is too light."And his comment that REALY pissed me off? "You know if you stopped talking we could enjoy these more." (I put a story line with the pics) There are some folks that will never be satisfied!

There's a joke/story I like to use to illustrate this sort of thing.

There was this hunter out in the woods and he took a shot at a bear and missed. The bear was really pissed and comes over the hunter, grabs his gun, jacks the shells out of it and throws it back to him.

Next day the hunter sees the same bear and misses with another shot - The bear comes over grabs the gun and slaps the crap out of the hunter before emptying the magazine and throwing the rifle far away.

One more day the hunter comes out shooting and misses the bear. The bear runs over, knocks the hunter down, sodomizes him, slaps him around, breaks his gun, and leaves.

The fourth time the bear sees the hunter he walks over to him and says "You don't really come out here to hunt? Do you?"

Like our hunter in the story these folks just like to make noise and gain attention or whatever. They really don't have much interest in what they claim. I think some really do enjoy getting slapped around.

Obsessive freebie seeking troll?!? O_o ::sigh:: I did not expect to be called that. Look, I guess since I'm a new person on this site...a new person who is suddenly causing a bit of a ripple (unintentionally). It's understandable that many of the "seasoned" members here are viewing my comments with heated suspicion and indignation. Also Duncan, I am more than happy to email the respective producers, I even sent Fred an email via this forum.

However due to being new, I think the forum's email system rejected the email. Lastly, contrary to what you seem to think Duncan, I am not looking for freebies...unless of course you consider a movie trailer a freebie?!? Because if you did consider a trailer to be a freebie, then mainstream consumers receive freebies on youtube about upcoming movies all the time. Even the "porn" industry provides their trailers/video samples for free (not through youtube of course). Then if you subscribe to their site you receive the full content as a part of the subscription, not as an addition fee after the fact.

On the flip side, you mention that this (the quicksand production) is all done on a minimal budget, alright, that may be the case...I really don't know, but do you realize there are hundred's of web shows that are done without any financial support. Merely just individual's who want to make a web series, they make it and several have even become pretty famous with financial backing coming from DVD sales after the fact. There are also companies that have formed due to the success of the openly available older and newer web series. If you are not familiar with any of these, let me know and I'll list some of them.

Alright so I've read all of the recent comments and aside from Fred (Fred, I appreciate and respect the fact that you seem to recognize I'm referring to navigation, functionality, consistency, and effectiveness of the websites) the rest of you seem to be stuck on fact that I used the word "free". Because of this the rest of you seem to think I want everything for nothing, which is completely inaccurate/not-true/false.

Case in point, before I made my first purchase last weekend, I browsed the quicksandvisuals.com/videos site and with only $38 to spend I could only purchase one DVD. Yet with over 30 choices I downloaded each trailer that was available, in order to see which one best matched my interest. Oddly one of the two that matched my interests most accurately based upon the images did not have a trailer and since images can cause people to have hyper expectations. I sought to find a trailer for that one as well. Especially since I have been disappointed by videos (in general) in the past when only seeing their images.

I searched the internet for a good half hour or so and finally came up with I result (which I no longer have), I watched the 50 second preview (official or unofficial...I don't know) for Quicksand Arousal and decided that it was a relatively good indicator of the material I hoped to view. So I purchased the Quicksand Arousal DVD.

Now back to the websites, when I referred to consistency, I'm speaking about the difference between quicksandvisuals.com, http://www.clubmpv.com, and studio588qs.com. As far as I can tell, quicksandvisuals and clubmpv are essentially the same entity. Except that one sells DVD's each with a dozen or more scenes, but also nearly each DVD's page offer's sample images and a trailer to show potential buyers what they can expect.
Whereas clubmpv.com only provides a small thumbnail image and a brief paragraph about the scene, but to know any more you're required to have the membership to access the sample content that is offered. All of which quicksandvisuals provides at no cost. But the issue with clubmpv.com, from my understanding, is that all you only receive samples of the scenes that are available (as well as some credits toward the purchase of a scene). But even with a paid membership you are still required to purchase each scene in addition to paying a membership fee. It's almost as if it's a secluded private club, but for what reason?
I would very appreciate a thorough and logical explanation of this, beyond "it's too verify maturity" or "it's to pay for tracking programming". I'm not criticizing! I'm merely asking for a reasonable explanation. Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to pay for a service, so long as said service provides me an equal and justifiable product return. The issue here is that the service/membership costs $20, yet your compensation is (I think) eight tokens/credits "$1 token/credit = $1.

Which means you are paying $12 simply for the ability to view a catalog of samples for scenes for individual purchase, use a search bar, and have your visit tracked. Much of which companies such as Google and Bing offer for free to website companies. If I'm wrong about what clubmpv.com offers as a part of the $20 membership, please let me know exactly what it is. Because as I said, if a service has enough value on it's own, I'll be happy to purchase it (when my paycheck comes) as of right now I don't see the value.

I've been working on this for far too long, so I'll have to pass on asking questions about studio588.

I do how want to comment to Fred, Fred I apologize if any of my comments in any of my posts came across as "complaints" or "criticism's", as that was not my intention. However, re-reading my previous post's I can see how they could be misinterpreted that way. So once again, I apologize! I hope this post came across less confrontational and more clearly.
Also Fred, I will indeed email you outside of this forum in regards to my ideas, thoughts, and a proposal of sorts for Studio588. As I mentioned above I did email you from within the forum a day or two ago, but I think being new, the forum's system blocked the message from being sent. I will see about emailing you in a day or so, the prior email however was just a few paragraph's briefly explaining some cosmetic changes that could improve your studio588 site.

Though since you indicated a proposal, I'm assuming you are expecting to see a more detailed list of changes and how they can be accomplished; as well as other information. As for now, I need to get back to working on my portfolio. Oh and since you were curious, I'm in my 30's and just received my bachelors of science in 3D modeling, animation, and graphics design, with a bit of web design.

P.S. I looked at my initial post again and in regard to "freebies", the thing many or some of you are getting aggravated about is nothing more than me asking if any fans made their own quicksand videos. I mean movie fans make fan-made music videos all the time. They re-enact movie scenes, and post them for others to enjoy for free. Simply to show their support and enjoyment of the movies and media.

Heck, people make fan-made free videos of nearly everything, so I thought I'd ask. I didn't think anyone would take offense to that or misinterpret what I said.

An addendum to my last post, I thought the clubmpv site said that there were credits/tokens provided with the initial membership. But looking back through the FAQ's and other information, it appears that is wrong. Am I to understand that you don't receive any credits upon signing up for that membership?

Seems very peculiar!! It's confusing because it sounds as though $20 only gives you access to view images and trailers, the only credits you receive are if you remain a member continuously. I simply don't understand this, it seems very illogical/lack-of-logical. What equally confuses me is that my attempt to understand the logic behind this, has been thus far meet with negativity by fans.

I'm glad you received it, though on my end I still don't see anything. Nothing saying I sent any messages or for that matter I don't see any in coming communications. In which case I'll email/PM you my public email address, that way you can email me if you like.

Also, Fred to you and the fans of this site, I once again want to express my sincere apologizes for any of my posts that came across as critical, demanding, pushy, or other ways that may have shown a lack of courtesy on my part. Admittedly, while writing some of the post's I let my agitation get the better of me (doesn't happen very often) based on what I could and couldn't find on the websites. Whilst at the same time, some of the questions in and of themselves due to the nature of the question, probably just came across as unintentionally critical.

I am always curious and trying to understand the way everything works, especially when it relates to a service or product I hope to purchase. I simply always want to make certain that I will be able to get my money's worth from what every "it" is I purchase.

I hope this once again will help to clear up any misunderstands and miscommunications.

Fightingfish, in regard to Fred's website, the suggestions I had sent him were to make it visually easier for customers to find products. I'll just stop right there as Fred already knows what I sent him. I do want to say, that I am not trying to destroy the way things are here. It is completely the opposite, I like the potential that is here and am attempting to help improve things.

I just...didn't go about it the best way this time (should have done it differently)...but then we each learn by trial and error, right?
