Reality Sucks? "Run of the Country" and Fem Victim

As I said in another thread, grim endings engage me and appeal to my perversion the most. It's the ultimate culmination of realistic peril. We're all different, of course, and for me, the more dark, more visceral, more tense and deeply erotic stories are the best. I agree very much but is that reality? Would the reality of the scene in question be broken if that were Scarlett Johanson in a bikini top under that tractor? Does the implausibility of a lot of this stuff make it tolerable? There's not one answer of course. I look at some of Acid Tester's hard core art and like it too but I think that's because it's too over the top to be "real".

Topic for another discussion I guess but would we want the producers to push it farther in that direction?

First, I'd like to comment this scene. On my taste, it is too fast - and this is not something that belongs to my fetish. For me, it is an ordinary and very plausible accident. If the mud wasn't involved, it would be even more plausible - as far as I know, starting a tractor's engine with the gearbox set at forward motion was the #1 cause of fatalities in agriculture in Soviet Union. I can hardly imagine a female victim in this scene, because any woman that is able to start a tractor engine like this would be too masculine to be accepted by me as a damsel. So, answering the question, would the scene be more appealing to me if the victim was female, - I suppose no, exactly this scene wouldn't.

Three playmates? Or a busload of cheerleaders? Duncan, were you speaking about another absurd comedy? Another cartoon, or better to say a caricature? Such girls don't do the agricultural work. The scene becomes not realistic, so it is not a valid substitution. Let me try to imagine a scenario that could fit... Say, three playmates rent an ATV to drive to sightseeing. They are quite unexperienced with mechanical (manual) gearbox. They stop at a place similar to what was depicted in this scene (with more impressive background), enjoy the view, then two of them take their seat in the ATV while the third, say, wipes the mud off from headlights. The one whose turn to drive starts the engine, forgetting to check the gearbox. As soon as she releases the clutch pedal, the vehicle rushes forward, knocking the third girl into the mud, then runs over her and pins her down... Less plausible? Yes or no, you decide. Two or three years ago a girl in Russia during celebration of her graduation from school lost all her family (mother, father, grandmother and younger sister) exactly this way - they drowned in car that unexpectedly rushed forward and fell in deep a river (not in a bog, sorry). The scene that I imagined would be definitely more interesting to me than the one from "Run of the Country". Female victims do work for the fetish.

But one important thing remains. It is just me, but in a mud (or QS) related scenario I prefer slow development of events. Actually, I am more stuck fetishist that quicksand fetishist. I can easily imagine very similar and no less realistic scene with a slow development of drama - which probably would be totally great for me. The quick scene, even with playmates or cheerleaders, wouldn't feed my fetish interest. I can tell, virtually no quick scene would be enjoyable for me. For example, the scene from "Dawns are Quiet Here", despite it is famous and as far as I know is praised within this community (and let's say the truth, it is rather realistic, too), is not something that I adore. I don't want to watch that scene separately from the movie, and honestly I haven't watched it for many years and have no desire to watch it again, despite I have the scene on my computer. I have to say (I've said it before), I more like the original scene from the novel, which is also more realistic, too. In the novel, the girl hadn't drowned in just few moments. She had sunk up to her chin and wasn't able to grab anything to pull herself out. She actually passed out of hypothermia, and despite it wasn't described in details, it is clear that it took a while, maybe an hour or more - she had seen the rising sun before everything went dark.

Returning to the scene from "Run of the Country", yes, I could enjoy it if it was long. Not a long scene - it always becomes boring if it is too long. But - a long struggle. A slow worsening of the situation, wrong decisions, failed rescue attempts. That would be my thing. And in such case a female victim would be definitely appreciated more (of course, with all the restrictions I said above).

Finally, does the "unreality" shields us from horror? I believe, the answer is "yes". Is such "unreality" necessary or not, strongly depends on what a particular member of the community prefers. I definitely dislike grim endings in any fetish scenario. A grim ending is a great turn-off for me, be it a "cartoon" (as Duncan said) fetish video or a realistic scene, or even a report from real life. Maybe because I look for happy ending scenarios only, I don't need such a shield. Or, maybe, it is another part of my fetish. But I can tell for sure - the more realistic the scenario, the more I like it. In many cases, I prefer real life events over any fantasy of fetish producers. Those who watch my deviantART gallery may condemn me for being not sincere - I have designed the whole fantasy realm of "the Damn Planet" populated with elven damsels. How does it fit my previous words? Easily, in two aspects. First, the fantasy realm was created to admit grim endings. I can't admit them in our real life realm. Second, quicksand accidents are rare in real life. So, any realistic character can hardly be reused in our realm. I created such a character - and I feel that she turned into cartoon even before I actually drew pictures of her mishaps. In reality, I don't think there are many (if any) girls in Ukraine (with its 46 million population) who were stuck in mud or quicksand more than once in their life. So, if we want to make many scenarios - we have to invent many characters. If we want to reuse a character - we need to place her (or him) in some fantasy realm. That's it...

More grim? My opinion - No

More realistic? My opinion - Yes, sure. But sorry, you (the producers) WILL NOT have enough realistic scenarios. Nobody wants many remakes... You (the producers) WILL NEED to invent more situations, what unavoidably leads to unrealistic ones.
