Yup. Just like the movies.
I got my legs under me, just so — and I kicked upward and back. I got my back clear of the mire and flung myself backwards, reaching for all I was worth — and got a good handful of prehistoric sucking toad.
"Okay, Fred. Now that I've got Connie, what would you like to do with her?"
I turned to look at Fred and felt myself settle back into the muck. The clay felt like a creamy strait-jacket.

I checked my grip, trying to make sure I could actually move the toad in this stuff.
Fred got his camera parked in 'Record Standby' mode. "And … action!"
Debbie relaxed by the clay, her foot dangling seductively. I lifted Connie just enough so I wasn't trying to drag her through the clay and flung her forward.
"Cut!"
"How was that?"
"Pretty good, but I need Connie's mouth to open as she goes for Debbie's foot."
This is a monster, Katherine. A pre-historic carnivore. She is NOT a foam-rubber appliance! I shifted my grip — and my position — to better reach Connie's mouth from underneath and re-set the toad's position in the pit.
I sank to my shoulders …
